With Zach Line out for the rest of the year, SMU is starting true freshman Jared Williams, an afflete with "Florida speed". He just broke free for a 54 yard touchdown run, so based on that, his elite skin color and state of origin, he will now be the starting SMU RB for the next four years.

are there any games worth watching today? The main game is Mich vs OSO. quotoback vs black quarterback. I found Kutztown with Robbie Frey but want to find another one as well.
Virginia/VTech (rooting for Virginia), Northwestern/MSU on the Big Ten network right now (3-10, MSU) 2nd Qtr. Alabama/Auburn (hoping for Auburn to somehow win it...want as many SEC teams as possible to have 2 or more losses.) Wyoming/Boise St on the Mountain Network, Stanford and ND tonight.

No sign of Sam McGuffie on the field for Rice. From skimming around the web, injury-prone Sam hurt his ankle on his second carry of the game against Tulsa back in October. The latest announcement was that he was seeing a specialist the first week of November, so it must have been serious. I hope that he can overcome his china-doll like fragility and put together a good season next year.

Michael Bennet with Georgia's first TD on a reception against Georgia Tech. He has six TDs on the year for Georgia and is emerging as a go to guy for Aaron Murray. I believe he is only a sophomore.........

Here in Missouri if I am overcome with "afflete-itis" from watching the college games on TV, I can always switch over to the Missouri State High School football championship games. Valle Catholic is now playing South Selby in the class 1 state title game, and I count a grand total of ZERO affletes for either team. The play is far crisper, more precise and more enjoyable for both teams than the typical TNB finger-pointing, chest-thumping on the other channels

It'd also be nice if GATech beat GA and then GA beat LSU. Even sweeter if Aub then beats ALA too.

i doubt it, he might cut into carries for next year but not by much. Zach Line breaks big plays quite often and always gets a few yards even when its clogged. Thats what June Jones is looking for, consistency. The afflete came into today with 20 carries for 60 yards, a long of 19. If you take Line's big runs out, he will still average around 4 ypc. Plus he can't pass block as well a 5'9 180-190? pounds. He would be better off at slot receiver in the run n shoot. The scheme is based around passing, they just need consistency and pass blocking from the back, the big plays are a plus but they rely on their passing game for that. The running game is to move the chains, not break one big one and not do much else. They might rave about him being from Florida but from what Ive read Jones wasn't all that interested at first and took a while to come around.

I know, but I was just showing my caste-weary pessimism. I've seen too many instances with universities and high schools where a white back was as good or, in many cases, better than a black athlete and still get screwed. For some deeply-ingrained caste reason, the white guy running the ball "just doesn't look right" in the eyes of a brain-washed coach. Even if the black's production is less, they look "better" and the caste train rolls on........

Yeah I know what you mean. It is hard but I try to stay optomistic, otherwise I would lose interest in the sport. However, something that concerns me more is that the other afflete, Wimbley looks like more of a threat to take carries away, more of the type of back that Jones would want in his offense, and displayed some of the characteristics I just listed, I can't find anything on him but he loooks bigger than the other afflete, runs with some power with 2 tds and if you take away his 39 yard run he still averages 4 ypc. Maybe a poorer version of Line, haven't payed too much attention to the game so don't know how he is as a pass blocker and doubt he would have it down like Line next year. I mean its just Rice and I wouldn't call them great against the run this year. I was looking forward to Line running all over them. Wimbley had 7 rushes for 19 against Houston.

Flipping through the games. "Hey, this SEC team has a White defensive lineman!" Then I realized it was Grambling.
hah. I don't even know why they air this on big time television. Nobody watches it. My mom use to work at the Superdome. She said NOBODY would be in their seats for the football part. Just people walking around, showing off their clothes and bling. Then when half time came they would jump in their seats to watch the bands. She hated working them because she never got tips, the most she got one year was 5, its because the guy was drunk and left the change. I used to work as a bellhop for a downtown hotel and it was the same thing. The thing was she said the company had a rule, if you didn't work the Bayou Classic you couldn't work Monday Night football or any other big games.

Not quite. If Cincinnati loses next week, they'll have 3 conference losses to Louisville's 2.

Even if they win next week, West Virginia will win with a higher ranking (provided they beat USF).

Wisconsin's defense has shut-down Penn State thus far. They are fun to watch.

Wilson's also been pretty good.

Wilson is garbage.
He's the beneficiary of the most massive offensive line in college football history.
He's basically a trained baboon. He gets the snap, waits one second for his linemen to grind the opponents into a fine powder, then it's nothing more complicated than passing skeleton, or a leisurely stroll to the endzone.

SWEET revenge for Bama, over uber-Marxist Auburn! And good contributions from Brad Smelley, Barrett Jones, Nick Gentry and Vinny Sunseri.

That may be, but he's still top of the rankings. That's all that matters when it comes to the Draft.
