I was the first to call him Jatashun Beachum(ed) "whale" lol, thank you very much...

Maybe I shouldn't comment until I see his highlights, but this guy has never played RB and hasn't even put up good rushing stats as a QB. He never even eclipsed 400 rushing yards or 3.5 YPC in either his sophomore or junior year as a "running QB" when he started getting hype. If he in fact does have "great feet" for a 275-300 lb. kid with his 4.7-5.0- 40 speed and is strong, he would get a chance to play DT if white. But if white, he probably would have to walk on to the FBS- until he lost some weight- if he was being recruited as a FB or TE (and at tailback, he'd have no shot!). But since he's black he's ranked a 5.7 on Rivals as a potential tailback prospect- which is the same rating as the VASTLY MORE TALENTED "white boy" tailback Brandon Bourbon who "actually plays tailback", doesn't have baby fat, runs a 4.4 and has run for over 2,420 yards before on 9.8 YPC, with amazing highlights as a junior! Unless Beachum(ed) Whale is absolutely dazzling as a dual threat QB as a senior and has lost some weight- than my opinion isn't "uninformed" here.

With the loss to LSU what bowl will Arkansas be in? For the second time this year the kicking game croaked and caused us losses to Florida and now LSU

A smart coach once said, "If you're depending on your kicker to win a game, that means your offense failed."

The first down call for 'proven loser' Frauderick Green is what cost the Razorbacks the game. With the loss of down and the loss of yardage, they were in a hole of desperation. They couldn't set up a high percentage field goal try. A QB sneak would've been a much better call on that first down. Mallett has shown an amazing burst on the sneak call. He would've picked up a minimum of two yards, still in the center of the field. From there, they have much better options because that's solid field goal territory already. Two shots at the first down likely would've been successful, since the LSU secondary was gassed. If not, it's a high percentage kick.
The story, which all of 'Razorback Nation' outside of this board refuses to acknowledge, is that Green is worthless. He has weak drive and no burst. I can't imagine a worse short-yardage runningback (the play call was also stupid).

Oops. Forgot to answer the question.
Liberty Bowl.
Although Cotton is still a slim possibility. According to some people, anyway. I don't believe it.

i need to give some credit where it's due ... Ryan Mallett has improved tremendously this season. he's still a pussy ...just not as big of one. he still has accuracy problems on his short and intermediate throws ... just not as bad as they were. he still can't read a defense worth a damn, though. but he has made HUGE improvements over the course of the season, and he rightly deserves credit along with the coaching staff. good job, men.

on a related note, Broderick Green is STILL the biggest pussy this side of a retired porn starlet. and with everything that has gone wrong for Pete Carroll at USC this season, i guarantee that he goes to bed a little bit happier knowing that he pawned this turd off on the Hogs.

I rarely disagree with you, Jimmy, but I'm offended and uncomfortable when I see "Ryan Mallett" and "pussy" in the same sentence.

I watched him play some as a true freshman at Michigan in 2007, and I wasn't impressed with him then. He threw 7 TDs to 5 picks. I didn't know what his future held, but I knew that few true freshmen (QBs) are awesome as true freshman.

So, he then transferred to Arkansas and sat-out 2008... Then in 2009, starting in the vaunted SEC, he throws 29 TDs to 7 picks! It wasn't his fault that Georgia's Joe Cox torched the Arkansas secondary, which caused Arkansas to lose a crucial conference game. I was pulling for Arkansas against Mark Richt's Georgia Ghetto Dawgs, but to no avail..

Mallett had three 5 TD games and a 4 TD game! How much better could he have played as a 1st year starter in the SEC? Truthfully? I imagine that Mallett's play even exceeded the expectations from some of the DWFs. Only those self-loathers that breathe air - solely to "pick on the rare White athlete" - would castigate Mallett for Arkansas' various deficiencies.

Mallett will be a Junior next year. It will be hard for him to top 29 TD passes, but if they have a balanced attack, Arkansas should be fine. I would consider Arkansas' O-line to be a "no-name" line right now, so Mallett was even more incredible.

Well, it may not have been in the "same sentence"... if we want to get really technical.

Now that they've "made history" by hiring the "first black coordinator" in school history, I can't see the offense being as successfull next year. And Mallet continued to struggle on passes under 10 yards, even in the last game of the season. So that coordinator that they're so hyped on clearly doesn't know anything about teaching quarterbacks. Sadly, he's also the recruiting coordinator, and I suspect he'll have much more authority to pick "his kind" of players now. Which means Arkansas will be going the Juice Williams route in the future.

Deadlift,

i understand why you would not like me calling Mallett a pussy, because i don't like pointing it out. however, i try to call 'em like i see 'em, and he has earned that label by his actions on the field. the biggest reason for being tagged that way is his repeated sliding to avoid contact ... even when he is scrambling for a first down. repeatedly, throughout the season he would slide to avoid getting hit, seemingly always on third down AND he'd come up a yard short of the first down marker.that certainly doesn't qualify as a tough guy. in fact, the first game he fought to get a firstdown was against lowly Eastern Michigan ... in the eighth game of the season.

needless to say, these gutless efforts were drive killers.

and to make matters worse, he would often get up and start talking trash to his opponents. yeah, real tough. not. the only other quarterbacks i've ever seen talk trash after similar stunts (and he'd even do it sometimes while standing behind his o-linemen) are all black quarterbacks who are known by us as chumps. Vince Young anyone?

he certainly has a great arm, has prototypical size, and he threw for big numbers, but he does have big flaws. and i hope he gets them worked out.

as for the o-line being a no-name bunch, to an extent you are correct. the two tackles are both black sumos who are simply awful.

however, guard Mitch Petrus is possibly the most athletic offensive lineman in the SEC and was named 1st-team All-Conference. as an aside, i think he could outrun "tailback" Broderick Green in a foot race.

Thanks for the clarification.

With the departure of Tim Tebow, Ryan Mallett will be the top-rated SEC QB going into next season. Alabama's Greg McElroy may be the 2nd best SEC QB, with the potential to improve his stock of course.

McElroy was excellent in the SEC Championship Game. In this era of the black quarterback, I'm glad that the best SEC QBs are White. After McElroy is gone, Alabama might start a black quarterback, and my guess is that they won't have nearly the success...

rumor has it that Mallett is strongly considering entering the NFL draft ...

if the NFL guys guarantee to pony up the cash via a high draft pick, then he'll likely make the jump. he's certainly not game-ready, but then again the NFL "talent" evaluators never cease to make decisions i think are stupid.

JC, I'd like the see Ryan return for another year & harness his skill-set. He has the size & arm, but needs to fine tune his reading of defenses & varying offense sets/plays, etc.

University of Arkansas junior quarterback Ryan Mallett, who threw
for 3,624 yards and 30 touchdowns last season, is expected to miss
spring practice after breaking a bone in his left foot during
conditioning drills Wednesday.

The school disclosed the injury Wednesday night.

Mallett is expected to recover in time for the start of fall
practice.

"It is unfortunate since Ryan works extremely hard and
has made a commitment to the Razorbacks,"Â￾ coach Bobby Petrino
said in the school's news release. "I am confident in our
athletic trainers and medical staff and believe they are the best
in the country. Ryan is a strong competitor who I know will put all
his effort into overcoming his injury and continuing to lead this
team."Â￾

Mallett missed part of spring practice a year ago after
suffering a thumb injury. He also broke a finger in a weight room
accident last summer.

Mallett is also coming off minor surgery on his non-throwing
shoulder in January.
