The reality is that Lemaitre hardly will improve his start, like minimum in few time.
In good races his first 60m are around 6.55-6.60 and with that first part his time will be around 9.9 high or 10.0 low in good shape,im realistic.

He has to try to improve his first 30m for to be constant sub10 and his main focus should to be to get sub20 easily and his PB.
In 200 he is really great and he could to be in 19.6-19.7 the next years.

Im sorry, but i dont see him really big future in 100m :icon_neutral:

Christophe is much stronger this year.

He improved his records in the training, his trainer thinks that Christophe is going to beat his records in 100M and 200M.

The tests demonstrated that Christophe is more powerful on the first 10 meters.

Christophe will be very very strong this year!

For me sub 9.85 in 100M and sub 19,60 in 200M !

RCSMAN, really you are super optimistic hehe.
I would be very happy if he gets those times but i doubt it so much.
Although in 200 i hope see him 19.7 this year, and i think that it is very possible :icon_tongue:

I do agree with you. Christophe has the potential top be a 9.8 and 19.5-19.6 sprinter. The only problem I see, and Ato Bolden has stated this as well, is Christophe is still underdeveloped and does not have the training partners to push him. He needs to leave Aix-Bains and Carraz (Sorry if I repeat myself but this is true). The best thing for Christophe is to train full time in the USA or stay in France and ask to train with Jimmy Vicaut. This competitive training will push Christophe and Jimmy to run faster than they ever have. They will push themselves Like Bolt and Blake do.

It is very sure that he should to run more in big meetings, and not medium-low level meetings in France with very bad sprinters, no competition and he dont get progress making it.
In adittion he should to train harder, like elite.

Although i have a lot of doubts that he can to get 9.8, he is not fast at beginning, he should to improve so much for to make it :embarassed:

I do not agree with you.

Jimmy Vicaut has the training partners to push him ? NO.

the french sprinter Christine Arron (10.73 in 100M) had the training partners to push her ? NO.

Stéphane Diagana (47.32 in 400mH) had the training partners to push him ? NO.

Serguei bubka (6M15 had the trainig partners to push him ? NO.

Michael Johnson ( 19.32 ) had the training partners to push him ? NO.

You does not need of this training partners with hard work and if you have the will to become n°1.

Christophe will prove it to you this summer.

Very good time for Lemaitre, 14.90 with -1.0 m/s wind.
Probably a little cold and wet track.
I waited a little bit better time, but with his horrible first 50metres is hard hehe.

Partial times: 50: 5.75 more or less(Collins got 5.66 and he had good advantage) 100: 10.19
150: 14.90

The more I see these results the more obvious to me where his training is headed. He is looking more like a 200 meter specialist who dabbles in the 100. Poor starts in the 200 don't penalize you as much as the 100, plus if you are a fast closer than it hurts you even less.

Hang on guys! We'll know more when we get to see a video (please post as soon as you find one) and read about the conditions, but one thing is clear: Christophe ANNIHILATED a good field. He left Dwain Chambers so far back, it's ridiculous. Even Kim Collins, long time Jamaican star, finished a full .25 behind Christophe.

So we may have wanted something better than 14.90, but the guys he slaughtered weren't a bunch of slowpokes from Aix. These were some pretty decent runners. Maybe the conditions and wind weren't good, but the differential in times looks promising.

Pending seeing the video, I'm pleased with the results.

Christophe ran into a 1.0 meter headwind.

Now to put that time into perspective, go the this page and look at the previous times run in the 150 by illustrious runners over the years. Most have had tailwinds, and virtually no runners (and only big stars are ever invited) ever broke 15. Heck, one year the race was WON in 15.30. Most of the sprint stars are above 15.20. I believe only three times were ever better than Christophes. Two were Tyson Gay and Bolt (in his most heavily roided year) and they had much better conditions than Christophe. The third, Wallace Spearman, had a much easier wind and only beat Christophe by .03. Other than those three I believe only Darvis Patton nipped under 15, and he had a tailwind!

So let me be clear: Christophe ran a dang good time!

I'm very happy with the time. One reason he might also be starting a little slower is that he has added a lot of muscle/bulk and it may take him another year or two to get used to it. He still has the incredible top end speed but he just needs to get adjusted to his growing body. Carl Lewis was never a good starter but he was still one of the best 100/200 guys that ever lived. Yes I know he was a cheat but I'm just using an example that not every elite sprinter has to have a 6.50 60 meters. It helps but it is not necessary if you have a killer top end speed like Lemaitre does. I feel like he is improving with every race.

Good show by the kid. Viva Lemaitre. Viva Le France!

The future for Lemaitre is in 200m, it is very sure.
He has train 100m too for to improve his start, like Bolt made since 21 years.
But Lemaitre will never be a great runner 100, it is very sure.

By the other hand in 200 he can to be without doubt one of best runners in the history

I disagree that he can't get better over the 100 meters. He needs to improve his technique with will lead to faster times. He has the mid and end parts of his 100 meters in order. He needs a coach that will perfect everything about his starting mechanics. He can keep Carraz but he needs to add some assistant coach to fix his start and drive phase. I think most here forget that he is only 22 years of age. To say that he can never improve his start is not being fair. It's frustrating that they continue to neglect that part of the race but he has time to get it worked out in plenty of time before the 2016 Olympics.

Tyson Gay and Asaffa Powell are a lot older and Bolt isn't too far behind them in age. Christophe will have his time to shine. Blake will be his biggest competitor in the future along with some young upcoming guns too. I think it is very important for Christophe to continue to double. I know he will break his 200 meters record this summer but I think he has a slight chance to break his 100 p.b. in perfect conditions with a maximum allowable wind.

I think this is a good result for him. He beat Chambers by .79, and Collins by .25. These aren't the best of opponents but the amount of gap between them and him is very very promising in my opinion. Collins has already ran a 10.04 100m this year. The progression of Lemaitre is a marathon so to speak, not a sprint...no pun intended. He isn't going to improve by leaps and bounds every year. I think he realizes now he needs to dig in and do the weight work in the off season and train properly. I think he will improve this year, even if just a little. He needs to just run consistently and I think the added bulk will help that. Guys like Powell and Gay run sub 10's for 4 months out of the year consistently and it's their strength that allows them to be consistent and fast. I really think he's on the right track and he's a guy we could enjoy watching for 7-8 years to come!

White lightning, Lemaitre has in 2 weeks 23 years, he is not a
teenager in this moment.
And in the last 3 years 0 progression in first 30 metres of his race.
Probably in the next years he will improve that part, but sorry i see that his progression will be very few really in this one.

In 100m i dont see him future compared with big sprinters.
Bolt same age that Gay or Powell?4 years difference, i would not tell that same hehe.

Blake has almost same age that Lemaitre(6 months older only) and Kemar Bailey only has 21 years(2 years less) and a big future in 100m.
And almost sure in the next 2-3 years several runners sub 9.9 will be in the field.
In 200m, really few runners are high level.

Lemaitre can to be really great in 200, and so his target should to be it.
This year sub 19.8 and perhaps some day in his peak 19.65-19.70.

And to train 100 for to improve his start in 200(that is bad yet of course) like Bolt made since 2007.

A "flying 100m" of 9.14 into a -1.0m wind is superb. Remember, a healthy Tyson Gay's flying 100 was 8.86 with a 1.5 tailwind. That's a 2.5m wind differential, but only .28 difference in time. This is very promising for LeMaitre's future in the 200, if he builds up his speed endurance.

9.15 flying for Lemaitre is not great time, only good time although he had -1.0 wind and the conditions were not good.

Other years with same conditions and with a little better wind, Bolt 8.70 flying in his 14.35 in 2009 and Gay 8.72 in his 200 straight(50-150) in 2010, and with headwind i remember.

Dix got around 8.95 in Newcastle in 2011 by example.
Lemaitre if he want to be in big level he should to be in sub9 100m flying and in my opinion he is far yet.
I hope that in the next years he can to get it.

I think at CF, with Lemaitre being one of the best sprinting prospects ever and also being white, we have the ability to over-exaggerate every little thing he does. We've seen him lack any dedication, we've seen him perform way under expectations at the big stage and this worries us, because we also see the amazing potential and talent he possesses.

This time is just good as Zellga said, it's a very impressive time in the grand scale of things, but we all know Lemaitre has more in him. We shouldn't be ecstatic to see him perform at a mediocre level, when he has the ability to compete with the very best.

One thing I think we all know: Carraz has taken him as far as he can, I think he's out of his depth at this point.
