In the opening round of the 400,Wariner,Rock and
Homegood all advanced. For some reason,Potter and
Steele didn't even run.Too bad.By the way,Wariner had
the quickest time of the day to qualify.I would love
to see Wariner and Rock go 1/2 in the finals!

In the semi finals of the 400 meters,Wariner,Rock and
Homegood all advanced again.Wariner had the quickest
time in the high 44 second range. In the 100 meters
pre-lims,John Woods qualified for the semi-finals
running a 10.35.This is a great confidence booster for
him.He beat out guys like John Capel.Keep it up John!
More reports to come soon. The 200 opens up tommorow.

Wariner does it again. This kid is unstoppable! He won the
400 USTF Championships today running the fastest time of
the year.Wariner ran a 44.20 to win easily over former
teammate D.Williamson.Andrew Rock took 3rd place in a
fine time of 44.70 to be the final US Guy to qualify for
the 400 meters US Team going to the world champs!Wariner
and Rock are the future of US Sprinting. When is the last
time 2 white sprinters represented the USA?Wariner is
only 21 and Rock is 23 years old so they should dominate
for a very long time.In the mens 100 semifinals,John
Woods just missed the cut but ran a very respectable
10.25 in his heat.He is headed in the right direction
and should continue to progress.

I watched the 400 and I am amazed at how smooth and strong Wariner is. At the end of the race he looked like he was effortlessly pulling away from the field. I am glad Rock finished strong for third. 10.25 is a good time for Woods. Was he running into a headwind? If so, that is a really good time.

Wariner stumbled out of the blocks and had to make up
alot of time.If it weren't for that mishap,he just might
have went around 44 seconds flat.He has incredible speed
endurance. As for Woods,I believe their was very little
wind in his race.He is inexperienced with running with
the big dogs.I'm sure he was very nervous. He did good
under the circumstances.I'm really dissapointed in
not seeing Dusty Stamer at the meet.I don't know what
happened to him this season.Indoors he was incredible
but his outdoor season was a huge dissapointment!I hope
he still continues his career but I guess he has a huge
decision to make. Both Stamer and Woods graduated this
year.
