It was a big day for a lot of white linebackers today. Urlacher, Brooking, Thomas, Dan Morgan & Mike Vrabel all had big time performances on the defensive side of the ball.
But a special mention needs to go out to the Giants Nick Greisen. He had 10 tackles anda fumble recovery.Greisen was all over the field and makes plays every time he is on the field. He stood out today for two reason; first he is the only whitedefensive player on the field for the Giants and secondly, hewas easily their best player today.
Greisen hasreceived the royal caste system treatment. Whenever he makes a play the typical adjectives are applied: over-achiever, limited athletic ability, blue collar type player. However, he consistently outplays the three overhyped free agents (Barrett Green, Carlos Emmons & Antonio Pierce)the Giants have brought in the past two years. When these guys were signed the local media and Giants front office madeit seem they had just signed Zach Thomas. The play of all three has been medicore at best thus far, with Green being a totalbust.Nonetheless, Greisen was only starting today because Reggie Torbor and Green were banged up along withEmmons.
Greisen's performance todayandalso last year warrant that he be the starter, but of coursewe all know common sense and fairness doesn't prevail in the NFl.
