Those are some really great times for these kids. Especially by the junior Brett Blanshan! It sounds like he has some serious wheels. I want to see more of these kids pursue track in college. Michael LeBlanc was one of the fastest guys in all of Div. IA last year. We need to see many more like him and especially from the United States. Thanks for the updates jacknyc.

OREGON

Senior sprinter/hurdler Eric Capelle won 3 golds at the Oregon state meet (14.51 110H, 38.89 300H, and leg on Barlow's 41.92 4x100 relay), and got a silver in the 100m (10.72).

http://www.racestats.net/articles/08capelle0406.htm

Sopomore Kellie Schueler defended her state titles in the 100, 200, and 400m. But even better, she set state meet records in all three individual events (12.01 100, 24.54 200, 55.04 400), and was the anchor on Summit¡¯s state meet record 3:55.11 4x400 relay!

Unfortunately he (Blanshan) false started at the State Championships.

Meanwhile, Krais won the PA State championships in the HJ, LJ, and 300m hurdles, but fell in the 100m hurdles. She is being touted as a future heptathlon champion.

Steinberg ran a 10.58 at the PA State Championships, but came in 2nd by 1/100th of a second. However he did win the 200m.

10.36 in high school whohoaa! I remember Jake Sharp shocked everyone by being the fastest high schooler in all of Kansas when he ran a 10.4 flat; this kid is even faster!

At the Nike Outdoor National HS Meet today, 2 white sprinters made quite an impression.
Hunter Furr won the 100m dash with a time of 10.56 into a headwind. He also ran 10.46 in the prelims.
That is blazing speed, and he is only a junior. Apparently he is also a top notch football prospect.

Meanwhile in the prelims of the 400m, Kevin Anding had the fastest time and set a meet record of 48.54.
Hopefully, he wins the final and breaks his own meet record later tomorrow.
Great Stuff!!!

Kyle MacIntosh was a triple winner at the Simplot Games this wkend.
He won the 60m HH, the 400m, and 4x400m relay.
A video of this 400m race here:
http://www.dyestatnw.com//?pg=videos&vid=E0EE865BE5E63626
(notice all the white participants - the Jeremy Wariner effect?)
and his hurdles race here:

His 400m time is 3rd fastest HSer in the country.
His 60m hurdle time is 4th fastest HSer in the country.

Kyle MacIntosh is for real. What a performance on such a big stage. I would love to see him continue running in the 110 high hurdles in college. We need more guys like Joshua Hembrough. This kid looks like he has the same skills. Thanks for posting this.

Landon Watts of Boise, Idaho looked good in the 200 finals. He finished in 3rd but he missed 2nd place by 1/100th of a second. He is very smooth and he is only a sophmore. To run that strong at only 15 years of age is very impressive. This kid could be another Shane Crawford. Keep an eye on him.

Chris McConnell ran the fastest 55 meters today in MA State history. He won by a landslide in a time of 6.34! This puts him in the elite of the nation! Way to go Chris!

He should become a citizen of Ireland or something, tthat way the caste sytem doesn't push him out of the loop like it always does in the US. Coming from Boston, with a name like Mcconnell, and being so good at track, Ireland would take him in a heartbeat as a citizen. I predict he'll run a 10.50 or lower in the 100 this year.

Don't want to brag but I guessed his time this year within a 100th of a second.

Way to go ABsprinter. Now we need to get your 60 and 100 meters time down a little.

Just joking my friend. You were right about this kid. Hopefully he doesn't fizzle out like Casey Combest did. McConnell is a talent. I will continue to follow him outdoors. We should post a picture of him. Maybe we will even start a thread about him like we had for Shane Crawford when he was in high school.

I am just scared hell be like matt bruno. Hes already very muscular so I'm not sure how much faster he can get by working out.

I missed this guy, John Guagenti, from last season.
He won the Midwest Meet of Champions (high school) in a time of 46.95. That is the 3rd fastest time ever at that meet, which is a HS all-star track meet.
He was the 15th fastest HSer at 400m last year. Big, strong looking kid. But even with those credentials he ended up at Finley College(?).
Anyway, I hope he continues his fast running in college.http://oh.milesplit.us/athletes/177985

Christopher McConnell missed the finals at the 60 US Indoor National Champs by 1/100th of a second. I really think he was saving some energy for the finals but just missed out. What a shame. Now it's on to outdoors. He still is only a junior so he will have a chance next year. Overall not too bad. He was the 9th fastest kid in all of high school at this Indoor Nat'l Champs. Pretty good if you ask me. Good luck to Chris outdoors.
