<DIV id=story--text>Steve Rux thinks
Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema needs to take a closer look at Joe Schobert.
When Rux, the Waukesha West coach, was told Schobert broke the single game rushing mark in a WIAA Division 1 football title game at the Badgers' home stadium at Camp Randall, he had thoughts of a bright future for his prep star.
"
So where's the scholarship coming from Wisconsin?" Rux said of Schobert, who ran for 296 yards in Waukesha West's 45-26 win on Friday against Stevens Point. "I've got a guy here. That's amazing. That's fantastic."
The junior eclipsed the record established by John Clay in 2005. Clay, now a standout for Wisconsin, rushed for 259 yards on 19 carries for Racine Park.

Schobert had two rushing touchdowns on 38 carries and one receiving touchdown to lead Waukesha West (13-1) to its first Division 1 title.
Rux said Schobert has shown great vision, speed and leadership for the Wolverines all season.
"He's quite humble. He's very soft spoken," Rux said of Schobert, who came into the title game with 2,162 yards and 26 touchdowns. "But he plays his heart out, and he plays his heart out for his teammates."
In the win against Stevens Point, the Wolverines had 486 total yards, including 369 yards on the ground. Quarterback Brandon Berghoefer added two rushing touchdowns.
Stevens Point quarterback Bobby Gregorich passed for two touchdowns for the Panthers (10-4), who had their eight-game winning streak snapped.
Stevens Point running back Tanner Kolbeck wasn't happy with Schobert's performance.
"It was demoralizing," Kolbeck said. "That's the bottom line. If they can keep running the same play over and over, and just keep continuously getting a solid chunk of yards, it just takes the heart out of our of the defense."
Kolbeck led the Panthers in rushing with 18 carries for 89 yards. The Wolverines defense held Stevens Point to 128 yards on the ground.
Meanwhile, Schobert attributed his accomplishments to the support he received from his Wolverines teammates.
"Our offensive line is the center piece of it," Schobert said. "They do a great job of blocking. "I get the glory but my linemen did all the work. They deserve the credit."
