The "Australian Of The Year" is actor Geoffrey Rush (groan...), who immediately started shooting off his leftist mouth about refugees, the wonders of "multiculturalism", et cetera...

Now, here is a story which illustrates how far my country has sunk:

There were some great scenes of classic Australia in the late 50's movie ON The Beach which is about the aftermath of the bomb going off. I think it was in Melbourne.

I saw the 1969 movie Age of Consent with Helen Mirren, which is also set in Australia. She's still good looking, but anybody who wants to see a really hot, young and naked Helen Mirren should see this movie. She's firm, but voluptuous.

The mournful rendition of Waltzing Matilda is unforgettable. I also heard an audiobook reading of Neville Shute's book by Simon Prebble that I thought was great. He has the perfect voice for it.

Europe - It's definitely long gone, mate. You probably noticed the ugly Asian mug in the segment dealing with higher education - the so-called "foreign student". That racket has certainly mushroomed since 1966 (the year of the video's production). These days, most of the bastards remain in the country following their "graduations"...
