Do owners hesitate to pay White players ?

Drew Brees and Wes Welker have been at least top 3-5 players at their positions for the last 5 years and neither is getting offered anything more than a franchise tag. Meanwhile undeserving and lazy black players are getting big contracts left and right. Michael conVick got a 100 million dollar contract 2 years removed from prison just because he had 7 good games. Are Brees' and Welker's contract situations an anomaly or part of a larger trend ? I remember someone in the draft thread mentioning the reason we're seeing more White athletes taken in the 1st round is because of the new rookie pay scale.

I believe white players in the league outside of quarterbacks get screwed money wise. Welker should be paid as a top five receiver. Just look at what they did to Jordy Nelson. Meanwhile black scumbags that admit to taking plays off get ridiculous contracts. Best example, Fat Albert Haynesworth.

Jordy Nelson did it to himself. He could have played out 2011 and become an unrestricted free agent. Instead he signed a new contract early in the '11 season for a fraction of what he could have earned if he had waited.

White players earn less than they should because they are drafted later than they should be, and often not at all, and also because they tend to undervalue themselves by being too much the "team player" in a league of mercenary players and corporate owners.

Welker isn't in the strongest bargaining position because he's now 31 and because he's possibly replaceable with Edelman or maybe Ebert (or maybe a black but that doesn't look likely right now given the drafting of Ebert). But still, he's earning franchise player money this year and should make eight figures somewhere for at least two more seasons after 2012.

This is the kind of question that should be asked on The506.com, just to stir the pot over there. Don't be afraid to register thereon (you have to to see the boards there) and ask them, Lew. But expect the kind of censoring reception Don and his mods give CF's trolls.

I think that the fact that White players are paid less then the same statistical level of black player is so obvious that someone could spend a few hours researching it and come up with an actionable lawsuit that would be better then any equal pay for equal work crap that you get from womyns rights activists.

However it would be the only class action lawsuit in amerika that even a jew lawyer wouldn't take.

The NFL's lawyers are very smart. They know how to get around lawsuits.
Of the top twenty players' salaries for 2012, there are 9 white players, 9 black players and 2 "other" players (Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez).
The top four salaries are all white: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, and Phillip Rivers.
The other whites on the list are Carson Palmer, Ben Roethlisberger, Jared Allen, Matthew Stafford, and Matt Ryan.

It's no secret that quarterback is the highest paid position and that almost all of the top quarterbacks are White. What the op is referring to is something more subtle and systemic than just looking at what the top quarterbacks are paid.
