Over in D3 football they are conducting the vote for the Gagliardi Trophy, which recognizes the outstanding player of the year. Of course, Division 3 is where a great many truly outstanding players end up because of pigmentation deficiencies. Below is the list, and here is the link. Oh, while you're there, you might as well enter yourselves into the drawing for a chance to see the championship game, the Stagg Bowl. Guaranteed to be much more entertaining than watching a bunch of thugs prance around committing mindless penalties, like most of the other bowl games.
The finalists:

"¢ Gerry (Spud) Dick (Sr., QB) - DePauw: Completed 71.3 percent of his passes with 309 yards passing per game, 27 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. In the playoffs, 35-for-59 passing, 318 yards, four TDs, three interceptions.

"¢ Judd Lutz (Sr., LB) - Mount Union: 80 tackles, 30 solo, 10 passes broken up and four tackles for loss. In the playoffs, five total tackles, one pass breakup, team 14 points allowed.

"¢ Dave Paveletz (Sr., RB) - Susquehanna: 1,414 rushing yards, 4.7 per carry and 128.5 per game, 11 touchdowns, 20 receptions for 149 yards and a touchdown. In the playoffs, 24 carries for 67 yards.

"¢ John Peters (Sr., LB) - Union: 121 tackles, 50 solo, 6-1/2 tackles for loss, five passes broken up and a forced fumble.

"¢ Jeff Schebler (Sr., K) - UW-Whitewater: All-time leading kick scorer in NCAA history, 10-for-11 on field goals (long of 46, 3-for-3 from 40-plus), 71-for-73 on extra points. Averages 60.3 yards on kickoffs. In the playoffs, 16-for-16 on PATs, 1-for-1 on field goals (from 46).

"¢ Adam Shaffer (Sr., QB) - Mississippi College: Completed 59 percent of his passes with 259 yards passing per game, 33 touchdowns and nine interceptions. In the playoffs (two-game average), 18-for-34 passing, 264 yards, two TDs, one total interception.

"¢ Alex Tanney (Jr., QB) - Monmouth: Completed 70 percent of his passes with 350.5 yards passing per game, 44 touchdowns and seven interceptions. In the playoffs, 35-for-51 passing, 361 yards, two TDs, no interceptions.

"¢ Blaine Westemeyer (Sr., OT) - Augustana: The three-time first-team All-CCIW selection is 6-5, 285 and has remained stellar as the Vikings transition from Wing-T to more of a passing offense. He is a biochemistry/pre-med major with a 3.94 GPA.

"¢ Dan Whalen (Sr., QB) - Case Western Reserve: Completed 68 percent of his passes with 304 yards passing per game, 34 touchdowns and eight interceptions. In the playoffs, 29-for-48 passing, 330 yards three TDs, one interception.

"¢ David Zachary (Sr., RB) - Central: 1,254 rushing yards, 6.1 per carry and 114.0 per game, 13 touchdowns, five receptions for 29 yards. In the playoffs, nine carries for 12 yards.
