The future of British Sprinting looks bright with a
star like Craig Pickering on the rise.He has alot of
competition to push him to even greater levels.I really

Craig Pickering will be part of a tv show in England to
be aired in September.The show is called "The Fastest Man
In the World".He was chosen to be part of the show which
is a great honor and shows that the world is taking notice
of this 18 year old sprinter.He also got to meet Michael
Johnson during the taping of the show.I hope they will show
it here in the US but if not,I will find a way to get a
copy.Again,congrats to Craig Pickering.Keep up the good
work in the chase for that first sub 10!

The Euro Junior Championships starts tommorow,July 21st,
2005.Craig Pickering is the favorite to win the fastest
sprinter in Europe.No one has run faster this year in his
age group over there!We need to root this kid on.He could
just be the best white sprinter in the world already and
he is a teenager.I think he will go above and beyond what
Shirvo did.Matt Shirvington was outstanding but could

Pickering has qualified for the final finishing 2nd in
his heat.He shut it down early and coasted.The 100 meter
finals will be on Friday.He will be in for a war with his
2 GB Teamates and Darius Kuc of Poland.They are the most
likely to finish in the top 4.Craig Pickering needs to

The final was a hard fought,closely contested race.The
times were very slow but it was a sweep for Great Britain.
Craig Pickering got the win and the gold as the fastest
junior sprinter in Europe.He won it in a time of 10.51
which is very slow but a win is a win.Craig deserved to
win it as he had the fastest time of any sprinter in all
of Europe.He went to get the gold and brought it home.It
shows that even under tremendous pressure,this kid has
what it takes to go to the next level.Congratulations to
him and all of the other sprinters.The great thing about
the Olympics being in London in 2012 is that Craig will
only be 26 and in his prime to win it at home in front of
all of his fans.This kid is going to be a huge star!

Stillcollecting info on European Junior Champs but Pickering is a name to watch. He wants to be first white guy under 10 seconds and has his eyes on an Olympic Gold. WL is Greg Rutherford of the UK white or black? I suspect the latter but want to be sure. He won junior Long Jump. And white gals took 100 and 200 meters.

almost red and he is Pickerings training partner!!He
jumped 8.14 meters for a new English Nat'l Juniors
record.He runs a 10.4 in the 100 himself which is almost
as fast as Pickering.Then there is another long jumper
from Austalia who is white who has jumped over 8 meters
too.There is a huge uprising of these kids from all over
the globe.It is very exciting.Pickering was named to the
GB Team for Helsinki as a alternate for the 4 x 100 Relay
Team.This is another big step for him to learn from the
veterans.The funny thing is that he has runner better than

along slowly.

You are the man WL!! In fact I found a wesite with pictures from the Euro Junior Champs and a few things stuck out. How many great young white euro athletes are coming up. White domination in a lot of the key events. And well, the number of good looking babes . Take a gander at the triple jump winner,Tetyana Dyachenko for starters. There are others. Hopefully white athletes will start taking T& F seriously again and start turning the tide not to mention shut up countless big mouths who think whites should just be firing the starting guns. The results from the euros are encouraging.

It's looking like Pickering could very well be a starter
on the British 4 x 100 Relay Team.They have some illnesses
& injuries.He has been practicing with the guys and
lighting up the track.This would be an excellent boost to

It still looks really good for Pickering to run in the
relay.Here is a pic of him before the start of the semi
finals in the 100 at the Euro Champs where he won the
gold medal.This kid is the real deal.Look at the vertical!

When i lived in south africa about4 years ago, iwas on the100m national relay team, and had beensprinting since the age of 10, and these are my observations:
When i started running at ten, i first ran the 80m (thats what 10 year olds run in south africa). Andthe gold medal was usually, if not always won by a white boy.
At 12, i started running the 100m (ran it 13.14secs),, and needless to say, the gold was also won by a white kid.
At 13, i ran the 100 (nationals) in 12.45 secs, and this was also won by a white guy.
At the age of 14, this is where everythingtook a drastic change,and ALL the white boys that used todefeat me, on a primary level, started getting fat, and obviously slow. That year i ran the 100m in (nationals) in 11.55 secs, however i was beaten by2 other blacks, who both ran close to under 11 secs (11.02 to be exact)
At 15, i ran a 10.8secs at the nationals, and needless to say i was 9th that year, the fastest guy (mixed racekid) ran 10.53secs ....at 15 !!!
At 16, i ran at the nationals in 10.34, and took second place, the fisrt place wastaken by the same mixed kid who ran 10.29,......no white guys even qualified. that year (and white guys are pretty fast in south africa)...
So I'll have say that white guys start off as fast (if not faster) than black guys,...but this tendfs to change around the ages of 14-15-16......Ive seen this happen rightbefore my own eyes....White guys simply get slower. In fact i remember at the age of 13,thinking thatthey had to be the fastest guys in the world........but those same white guys couldnt even see me the next few years......

Morne Nagel?So what ethnicity are you?I'm guessing that you
are off african descent(black) but I'm not sure.From what
I have learned over the years,the opposite is true.Whites
actually walk later,hit puberty later and don't hit their
prime until a later age than blacks.That is why a guy like
Allan Wells switched from the long jump to the 100 in his
mid twenties and went on to wint the gold medal in the 100
meters at the Olympics.I could give other examples but I'm
not sure you want to listen with a open mind.No one here is
saying that blacks are not excellent sprinters/athletes.We
are saying that it is not as great a difference as everyone
believes.Most white athletes go into other areas/sports.

Good news.Craig Pickering is going to be coached by Malcom Arnold who currently also coaches Jason Gardner.Arnold is the finest coach in England.He has coached many world & olympic champions.Pickering is only 18 and has already run a 10.22 in the 100 meters.He has alot of room to improve.Arnold will help to get his form as close to perfect as possible while doing strength training too.I would love to see Pickering make some huge strides before the next Olympic Games in 2008.He is in good hands on his way to a SUB 10!!

You guys have to watch this clip from a 1 hour show just aired in England.Michael Johnson narrated it and it was called "The Worlds Fastest Man".Go to this link and follow the instructions.It only takes about a minute to download and it's about 5 minutes long.It shows Craig Pickering who is the European Junior 100 Meters Champions in training.It is fascinating!You guys have to see this.I haven't seen the whole show yet but I'm looking forward to it.Check this video out and let me know what you guys think?Pickering is the Man!!

He ran a 6.83 last year early in the season.That is his p.b. in the 60 so far.He has to get alot better starts which he is focusing on.He is a incredible late closer in races similar to C.Lewis many years ago.For example,Nick Smith the young Scottish Sprinter has a p.b. in the 60 of 6.63 but his 100 p.b. is a 10.28.Pickering has a p.b. in the 100 of 10.22 and he is only 18 years old.He is about to turn 19 in around a week though.Here is a link.

Craig was picked to be on the Commonwealth Mens 4 x 100 Relay Squad next season but declined.He wants to focus on school and the indoor season.I'm really hoping that this is the right decision for his career.He just turned 19 so he has plenty of time for upside.I think that he will get into the 10.10 - 10.15 range next season.I would love to see him go sub 10 in the 100 before he hits 21.That would be great!!
