Black privilege in boxing

Everywhere I go whether it be twitter, youtube, boxingforum24, and anywhere besides this forum, black boxers get put on a pedestal. They are all made out to be unbeatable gods as long as they arent journeymen. Anytime a black boxer is undefeated he's supposedly a future HOF'er or a generational talent. It doesn't matter the caliber of opponents he's faced. A prime example of this is Tank Davis who has yet to fight A level opposition (he also ducked Loma) yet wins every hypothetical matchup created by boxing fans. But when a non-black boxer is undefeated, they question the quality of opponents they have faced and in many cases say that they are hypejobs. In many cases, you don't even hear about them. An example is inoue where you hear many boxing fans say that lower weight classes are filled with nobodies. But i assure you if blacks were dominating those lower weight classes, there would be more buzz around it.

Another example of this black privilege is that black boxers are more likely to be excused for a bad performance. If you follow boxing, you will know that both shakur Stevenson (black) and teofimo lopez (latino) had lackluster performances in their most recent fights. However, you will notice that many people are making excuses for shakur saying that he just had an off-night or that he had an injured left hand even though his coach kept telling him to use his left hand if you watched the fight. So clearly it was because he was scared of opening up for a counter. But despite all this, many people say to look past it because it was only one bad performance and doesn't take away from his greatness. On the other hand, many people were saying Teo got exposed and was never that good. They constantly keep bringing up how he's inept at cutting off the ring and fighting on the front foot even though the other guy just kept running like shakur did. So now his past accomplishments don't matter anymore and he's just trash according to the public.

Even when it comes to elite ATG fighters, people always nitpick bad things about non-black fighters such as Pacquiao, loma, canelo, klitchsko, Inoue, etc to make them seem overrated. They bring up their losses or even specific moments in the fight where they didn't look so good. Or they accuse them of steroids like black boxing fans did with Pacquiao. Yet they never do this with black fighters and often talk about how talented and smart they are and how no non-black fighters can beat them. Oftentimes, you will see this come from black boxing fans and especially mayweather fans who are mostly black themselves. While I have nothing against mayweather and think he's a great fighter, his black supremacist fanbase is certainly an annoyance and have ruined boxing spaces online. You are not allowed to make any criticism of great black fighters without eliciting a negative reaction while you can do so for everyone else. You can bring up Pacquiao struggling to beat Marquez or loma having 3 losses but you cant bring up floyd getting rocked by a 40 year old shane mosley or getting dropped by zab judah or having controversial decisions against Maidana and Castillo. If we do bring it up, we get labeled as racist.

All in all, blacks really do seem to get the benefit of the doubt in boxing and quite frankly, this has gotten out of hand. You can partly blame this on arrogant black boxing fans, but you can also blame this on jews and anglo elites who do way more to promote blacks and tell them how ALL blacks are gifted in athletics and fighting while also selling the idea that ALL whites and asians are soft sissies that can't fight or do well in sports. This will naturally put off more non-blacks from entering the sport and do the opposite for the blacks so the whole invincibility aura around black boxers won't go away anytime soon.

All of which is unfortunate and annoying but the rise of Eastern Europe in boxing and basketball since the turn of the century does help to put the lie to black supremacy.

And as for the media favoring blacks over whites or Asians , well, we know who runs that media and what their agenda is.

The truth is whites no longer care about boxing so no one is ever going to push back on this. Both the fans and the athletes themselves have moved to MMA which is one of the Whiter sports at this point. I personally prefer boxing but have no interest in watching, as you said, overhyped blacks plus a bunch of Hispanics. The last remnants of white talent are aging and the youth are training MMA which arguably favors the skill sets of white fighters more anyway.

The typical DWF doesn't care anymore about boxing less super fights but if you look at the list of champions in the divisions at the moment all yes ALL of the champions in the big 4 organizations from 168 to 200+ pounds are White. Aside from the segregated era of boxing with Colored world titles and when a Black champion reigned and White titles were recognized I have never seen this before.

Also look at this press conference and scan the crowd and notice the racial/ethnic makeup of the fans...

We need more mcgregors in general. Complete lack of fear despite having to fight in a sport that isn’t his own.

Well dressed and unafraid to point out the fact that mayweather couldn’t even wear a suit. You had to love it

I do believe white fighters have adapted to the scene, of black favouritism and are now starting to thrive.

I also enjoy boxing as well as the history behind it but unfortunately boxing spaces are hostile towards anyone not black or anyone that praises a non-black fighter over black fighters. MMA is different in that there's more diversity at the top level and more exciting fights since record padding isn't as prominent which means the best are forced to fight each other more often.

Not sure if you might be trolling or maybe you are just talking about American boxing. However globally and at the top level whites have been kicking ass in boxing for decades. Africa is the worst continent at boxing by far, and Europe the strongest. Boxing might not be as much white dominated as MMA, but still for sure boxing is still white dominated.

Whites have dominated the heavyweight division for 20 years. Usyk was recently P4P number 1 (and should still be), before him it was Alvarez, before him Lomachenko, and before him Golovkin, (and Kovalev should have been)

Wladmir Klitschko, Vitali Klitschko, Joe Calzaghe, Oleksandr Usyk, Vasily Lomachenko, Kostya Tszyu, Canelo Alvarez, Carl Froch, Sergey Kovalev, Gennady Golovkin, Artur Beterbiev, Sergio Martinez, Tyson Fury, Mairis Breidis, Kelly Pavlik, Ricky Hatton, Mikkel Kessler, Josh Taylor, Felix Sturm, Carl Frampton, Alexander Povetkin, Omar Narvaez, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, etc etc there's been so many brilliant white fighters in the last 20 years.

Two more major aspects, judges for black American and British fighters, black fans are never pathologized with racial insecurities (e.g. you only thought Loma won because he is white!), there is a double standard for rooting by race and few boxing commentators, content creators are willing to call it what it is.

I remember Larry Merchant a couple years back flipping the script and calling Wilder the "great black hope", I think after the second Fury loss, I was stunned by the courage.

Almost every online discussion about boxing is dominated by Black Americans which is a problem because all the information they put out is heavily biased towards fighters of their own race while other great fighters get undermined. Most people who go online to learn about the sport for the first time will also develop these biases leading to a shitty feedback loop. On twitter, there is still this narrative put out that canelo is a hypejob because he fought "wack ass European fighters" instead of "elite black fighters" even though these "elite black fighters" in question hardly exist north of 147 (maybe those 154lbers and 160lbers went to the NBA LOL). These same black boxing fans are also notorious for hyping up Tank Davis as the most dangerous fighter even though he has fought 0 elite opposition and ducked a natural featherweight loma. Also there is another narrative STILL going on that if prime floyd fought prime Pacquiao, prime floyd would KO or beat him worse when there is really no good argument for it. This forum is truly a blessing and has a lot more sane takes on sports and athletes

Yeah it’s small but it does seem like they are losing their grip a bit.

Their grip on reality, that is.

All joking aside, the fact that most quality white boxers are from outside the us gives them a potential excuse to say that whites fought inferior competition or whatever.

It’s an obviously false argument but these forums are likely heavily populated with room temperature IQ levels is my guess
