How many white running backs are left that will get ANY touches this year out of the backfield? Four? Five? Zero?

There is Mike Alstott who will get an occasional short yardage carry. Brad Hoover. Who else?

I think that's it. Corey Schlesinger, who is injured and at the end of his career, might get one or two carries for the season, and Dan Kreider of the Steelers. But the white fullback has basically been eliminated as anything but an additional offensive lineman who lines up in the backfield.

Mike Karney of the Saints might get an occasional carry down by the goal line.As Don said, the fullback does all the dirty work/blocking,while the running back gets all the credit. There is alot of talk though that the fullback position is dieing a slow death in college & pro so maybe that won't even be there much longer. They just don't want white athletes running the ball.It is against the rules!

What about Nick Goings? He was great for the panthers last year and will definetly get carries as Jackson is injury prone and Foster more of a 4rd down specialist.

Welcome, WhiteRB. Nick Goings is a light skinned black so I guess that makes you the last white running back!

Ummm dude he is white. He is some (maybe 1/4?) lebanese in him which is why he has darker skin.

We've discussed Nick Goings before on the site, I consider him "white" because most fans do too. I thought he was half black though. First I heard of him being Lebanese. However if that is true then yes he is white and the ONLY one in football that runs from the tailback position. And he's had some good games too. Which is good news.

Goings is the son of a black father and white mother. We have never considered half-black athletes in any sport as "white" on this site and I don't think we should start with Goings. There are a lot of half-black half-white football players, and they receive the benefits of the Caste System; white football players don't.

That is a huge load of crap. Take one look at Goings and ask yourself if the vast majority of scouts and coaches watching this guy didn't see him as a white running back, what with his light pigmentation and generally european features. He would have had to fight very similar battles to other white running backs -> eg. he started his NFL career as a FB despite playing HB in college.

I would say that his 'black' father was far more likely 1/2 or 3/4black for two reasons. 1. Skin pigmentation is a dominant gene and would show. 2. Most african americans are 1/4 caucasian

If you read the article, you will read that his fiance is lebanese, not his mother. Sorry for that mistake earlier, it was second hand knowlege.

I say if Goings relates as a caucasian, is minimum1/2 caucasian and the vast majority of people assume he is caucasian, then we can consider him a white running back.

I have to agree with right winger.Brad Hoover could have been the starter but wasn't allowed to.Goings looks more black than white to me.You can be mixed and get a chance but if you are like Fosey,Lumsden,Staley, etc. they will not allow you to be a running back period unless it is for 1 or 2 games in an emergency situation because of injuries. That has been a fact for a while.I'm sure Goings is a good kid but he has gotten a legitimate chance where others haven't.Even Mahe has played some for the Eagles and I think he is Samoan. They don't want whites at that position.

It just goes to show you how important race is when a team is trying to decide who should be there starting tailback. The 1/8 or 1/4 (whatever) amount of black in Nick Goings was just enough ethnicity to allow him to be considered OK to play tailback. Even he has shuffled between FB and tailback in college and the NFL - sounds like they are just as confused as we are about his race. Thankfully for him he had teammate Brad Hoover to be compared to. When pressed because of all the injuries in Carolina, they had to decide who to give a shot to Hoover or Goings. Goings got the nod and Hoover is still a FB. He should thank Brad Hoover for being so incredibly white.

Hoover should have gotten a deep tan, dyed his hair black with cornrows, and show off his watermelon grin whenever possible and he may have gotten the nod over Goings.

You ever notice how mulattos, not matter how much white blood they have in them, automatically get to have the aura of supposed "natural athletic superiority?"

My favorite example is Ali. Yeah, "blacks are fast boxers, whites are slow boxers" they say. Yet Ali had more white in him than any of his black opponents...why wasn't he slower than them? Something just doesn't compute.

I watched Goings play when he was with both Ohio State and Pitt and never considered him as anything other than black. If Goings is white then I guess we also need to retroactively claim RB Robert Smith as the last white featured back, and also claim as our own Brock Marion and Rod Woodsen as white NFL cornerbacks, among many other mixed race blacks who could be cited.

File the Goings conumdrum w/ the "one-drop" rule that is such a bone of contention over on Don Black's board, and perhaps Alex Linder's as well.

Even Goings himself claims to be half black and half caucasian. In the article posted by right winger, if you read it, Goings specifically denies the act of 'passing', claiming white, or black, when you are not. He proudly proclaims both sides of his heritage, according to the article.

If the man in question doesn't even consider himself white, then neither should we.

One drop rule? Jesus H Christ this place is more extreme than I thought. I support white football players, especially running backsbecause I relate to them, and as a white running back in a AA school, I understand the stereotypes they face. I support Nick Goings because he is 1/2 or 3/4 or whatever white, he faced similar battles to what alot of whitepower backs face, regardless of whatever the % of white blood in him is. sh*t, I support guys like J. Bettis, who faught against being labled a fullback way back when he was drafted, and has been a successfull, bruisingtailback ever since.

Somebody brought up Robert Smith. A half caste guy who believed he had acheived all he needed to in the NFL, and retired early inhis prime in order to acheive his dream of going to medical school. Does that sound like a black guy or a white guy to you?

In fact that is the #1 main reason that you don't see half a dozen white halfbacks lining upfor their teams on sunday is because white kids don't grow up in the projects wanting to be the next Emmit Smith or the next Barry Sanders to escape poverty, they grow up in middle america wanting to bethe next Brett Favre,or a lawyer, or a teacher, or a surgeon -just like Robert Smith.

I guess what I am trying to say here is that the culture of the white athlete is much much more thanskin coloring and who your parents were. Its 90% about attitude, work ethic and gamesmenship. Its why I have no problems identifying with guys like Goings or Chad Brown, but ridicule and shun guys like Romonalski. Edited by: WhiteRB

I don't have any 'problems' with those guys, either. Or Robert Smith. Or Curtis Martin. There is a thread on caste football that I started a long time ago, "who is your favorite black player." You should read it.

But I don't have a problem with Romanowski, either. I love the guy's take-no-sh*t take-no-prisoners attitude.

Know who taught him to be that way?

Ronnie Lott.

Romo was a roid raging homo. He had a poor work ethic and never gelled with team mates. Whilst he was a good fit for Oakland and their 'me first' culture, he never was an athlete worthy of admiration.

Sooner or later, a great speed white running back will come along, and will redefine the position. A guy that can break down the stereotypes, like Warren Moon did for black quater backs. Staley, Forsey, Lumsden, all great college level running backs; definetly all possible NFL starters with some grooming, but not even the most die-hard fan here will claim they were/are ever going to be great. Statisticly, it has to happen sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.

This is where I believe you are wrong. How can you say that none of these guys would have been great?Staley was the best running back in the nation for college football as he won the Doak Walker Award.I saw a game where he scored 5 touchdowns! He ran a legit 4.4 and weighed 220lbs.He would have been a very good back in the nfl.He was doing good in the pre-season with Detroit in his limited action.
Forsey has already shown he is capable of getting over 100 yards when he starts. He had the moves, vision and good enough speed to be a starter. He showed how hard he is to tackle and the guy in college scored more touchdowns than any other player other than Barry Sanders!
Lumsden is a beast just like Staley. He has the size, speed, power and hunger to suceed. He just needs the opportunity.I know Canada isn't as good in the college level but he averaged 10 yards per carry! He was the leading rusher in the American College All Star Game. What more do you want?He needs and deserves a chance.
Then look at Jervey who had a game of 100 yards on nat'l tv but was put on special teams.Brad Hoover has run for 100 yards on a Mon.Night Game.It is not rocket science.Alot of these guys could do it if allowed the opportunity to start and play for several years.Look at Chance Kretschmer,he lead college football in rushing in his freshman year and no one drafted him. When will it stop?I don't see an end to it until a few white running backs, the media, and the fans demand an explanation!I really hope Lumsden and Forsey haven't given up hope like Staley did.It is really sad for these guys.

To WhiteRB:

Obviously who a person chooses to like and dislike is a matter of taste, Bill Romanowski being a good example. Mixed athletes like Nick Goings are a difficult choice for the site however.

Anytime an athlete has any black heritage people will credit the black heritage for his athleticism. Thus whenever Goings has a good game the supporters of the caste system will say "he's good because he is part black". Goings success does not advance the cause of white athletes at all unfortunately even though we may personally wish him well.

This happens all of the time. Jim Thorpe was a great "Indian" athlete even though his father was Irish (Thorpe). My friends insisted that Wariner (the track star) was hispanic because they looked at him and could not believe that a white runner could be that fast (even though there are no good hispanic runners anyway).

So any non-white heritage is cited as the reason for an athletes success. That is why we do not feature mixed race athletes on this site (unless they are generally considered white). It does not advance our cause.

That does not mean we do not wish them success.

The one drop rule isn't something that the people on this site have invented. The one drop rule is applied by the "powers that be". It means that if you have one drop of african blood in you than you are considered to possess the athleticism needed to play the skill positions of the NFL. How extreme did you think this site was anyway? How dare we ask for equal treatment for white athletes!

Your comment onhow noone even on this site thinks guys like Luke Staley could be great couldn't be further from the truth. There are plenty of white RBs right now that could be great if given a chance. Most will never get a chance to prove it and guys like you will talk about how they weren't good enough in the first place. Edited by: Kaptain Poop

One drop rules sounds like if they have one drop of african blood they arn't considered white by you guys. That is extreme, and if I interpreted wrongly I apologise.

Staley was good, and definetly could have been a good NFL back if a team had taken time to develop him.

Lumsden will probably play a season or so in the CFL before a team takes a chance on him, as talented as he is, he needs to go up against better competition first. Ivery much wish a D1A team had taken a chance on him at half back, playing at McMaster hurt his career, as the canadian college league is Div3ish at best.Does anyone know when the last time a NFL team started a Div3 HB of any race? I don't know the answer to that question.

Forsey was good in college. Teams should have taken a chance on him. However he had a chance in the limelight in miami (with that awfull Oline), and if he had had a stand out game, people would have stood up and taken notice.

White running backs need a role model. Especially white speed backs. There are plenty of great white power backs in college, and most are moved to fullback if taken at all. Powerbacks in general haven't been in vouge for decades.

I think the white halfback messiah will come, somebody who will be a hall of famer and will shatter any stereotypes about white backs.

I don't think if somehow a great white running back emerges in spite of the Caste System that it will change anything. Are Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash changing any preconceptions about white basketball players? The fact that European and South American teams have dominated U.S. teams of late in international basketball competition?

Will Matt Jones change any preconceptions about white receivers? Have Drew Bennett and Brandon Stokley? Ed McCaffrey, Wayne Chrebet and Patrick Jeffers sure didn't. As long as whites continue to be slotted and denied opportunity in high school and college, an occasional "freak" in the NFL changes nothing.

The Caste System has to be fought and defeated from the Pop Warner/little league level on up, and in the court of public opinion. Until then little will change.

To WhiteRB: creators of this site claim that the NFL
and a new American culture is discriminating against athletes
considered "white". The reason mixed race athletes are not
considered white on this site has nothing to do with science, but
society's perception of them.

Romanowski did not win 4 Super Bowls by being
lazy. Rick Reily of Sports Illustrated wrote a great article
about him and was chastized for it.

Some mixed race athletes are supported by Caste Football, such as Johnny Damon and Teddy Bruschi. It is the ones who are part-black who aren't supported as white, because the Caste System Big Lie is based on black supremacy over all other races.
