Sports Illustrated has come out with its annual list of the 50 highest paid athletes, counting both salary and corporate endorsement money. As usual Tiger Woods ranks number one, with $6,370,407 in winnings and $80 million in endorsements. Phil Mickelson was the only white golfer to make the list.

Only 16 of the 50 are white, with half of them being baseball players. Nearly half of the list (44%) consists of black NBA players. The only white basketball player to make it was Keith Van Horn at #49.

Not surprising numbers, considering the salaries of NBA and NFL players now. I wonder if Alex Rodrigues was on the list, doesn't he make more than anyone in baseball?

Notice how the Yankees tanked when they brought in A-Rod similar when the Rangers brought him in. His salary really killed the Rangers though.

Good observation, Bear-Arms. A-Rod's teammates on the Rangers mostly disliked him rather intensely. Maybe the same thing is happening on the Yankees. He does seem to be a team killer.

How much do you think sport agents play in getting top dollar for black players. Probably, could play off their greed. Usually you hear the stories of them going from poverty and buying everyone in their family new cars. The agents have to love that. Agents make more money when the player makes more money. So, I wonder if they favor the black players a little more.
