Virginia has started 4, 8, 8, 8, 9, 8, 10, 9 whites from 2005-2012 and 7, 9, 7, 6, 6, 6, 7, 4, and 7 whites from 2014-2022 (we missed the writeup in 2013). In 2023, they are projected to start 7 again.

Second-year coach Tony Elliot will attempt to right the ship after a lousy 3-7 debut season. Native Virginian QB Tony Muskett has transferred back to his hometown school to succeed Brennan Armstrong's accomplished career. Muskett previously was the starter at Monmouth University. True freshman Anthony Colandrea seems to be the current #2, and there are two more white redshirt freshmen on the roster.

UVa has an experienced line and a few white seniors at tight end. The most important storyline will be whether Elliot can create a functional offense with a new quarterback from a lower division.

Ahern and Jackson have starting experience at LB and will ascend into full-time roles this year. WR Ethan Davies may return punts.

NFL Hall of Famer Bob Griese's grandson Jack is a walk-on running back.
