Vanderbilt has started 11, 8, 12, 11, 10, 9, 11, 11, 9, 7, 6, 7, 6, 6, 6, 6, and 8 whites since 2006. In 2023, they should start 8 again, the majority being blockers only.

The SEC's top academic school is also its football punching bag. Recently, the Commodores program is probably most famous for playing a girl at kicker and having a gang-rape scandal where a white player recorded a bunch of his black teammates defiling a girl while she was passed out drunk in her dorm room. The team defied the odds last year and won two conference games.

Quarterback AJ Swann will have plenty of opportunities to air it out while facing deficits this season. He returns after starting as a true freshman. Humphreys (true freshman) and Hoskins are both on the two-deep at WR and should hopefully get some chances to make plays.

On defense, Patterson and Barr are co-captains and returning starters.
