Since 2006, NIU has started 11, 11, 14, 12, 11, 7, 7, 9, 6, 8, 10, 9, 10, 7, 10, and 9 white players. In 2023, the Huskies project to start

Rutkiewicz had six touchdown catches out of the slot last season and is the team's leading returning receiver. The success of his partnership with Rocky Lombardi (former Michigan State starting QB) will determine whether this team is a decent watch. Watch out for the snow plow o-line!

Justin Lynch converted to a full-time running back after starting his college career as a dual-threat quarterback. He could see a few gimmick plays this season. Grayson Barnes is a WR/TE tweener at 6'5 215 lbs who could become a regular red zone target.

It's a shame they couldn't find any white players for the defense. Cade Haberman should at least rotate in on the d-line.

Starters:
QB: Rocky Lombardi
WR/Slot: Kacper Rutkiewicz
OT: Evan Buss, Nolan Potter
OG: John Champe, J.J. Lippe
C: Pete Nygra
FB: Brock Lampe

PR/KR: Kacper Rutkiewicz

Backups:
QB: Ethan Hampton, Nevan Cremascoli
RB: Justin Lynch
WR/TE: Grayson Barnes
TE: Tristen Tewes
OT: Drew Hoth, Evan Malcore

DT: Cade Haberman, Jacob Waskow
LB/S: Jordan Hansen, Joey Rattin
CB: Owen Belman

Nice Northern Illinois won’t even recruit Honkeys on defense anymore.

With all the success Iowa has had in defense with majority of whites starting you’d think other teams would copy their blueprint. Like the patriots on offense when they were winning sb’s it seams if you are successful with white players no teams will copy it
