Since 2006, San Diego State has started 12, 9, 9, 8, 11, 12, 10, 10, 7, 8 , 10, 9, 7, 7, 9 and 7 white players. It looks to be 7 again.

Journeyman QB and San Diego native Braxton Burmeister is entrenched as a starter after stints at Oregon and Virginia Tech. Burmeister was once the back up for Justin Herbert at Oregon...time is an interesting thing. Burmeister never got a fair shot at Virginia Tech, where he was a starter but played under a completely unoriginal offensive coordinator. The dual threat QB was the fastest player at VT, recording a top sprint speed of 22.53 mph. He also has a background in MMA and surfing. Burmeister will be one to follow; a smart NFL team would be looking at him for a Taysom Hill role.

Burmeister is the clear cut QB1 in a team that last year I noted had suddenly become full of non-white QBs, who occupied all three spots on the depth chart. Now, Burmeister transferred over as the number 1 and freshman back up Kyle Crum is battling for the two spot. There may be some hope.

UW transfer Mark Redman joins Jay Rudolph at the TE spots. SDSU plays a lot of two TE formations, they will both see the field frequently. One, if not both, will have a pro future. SDSU continues to pump out white TEs, and the depth is there behind the starters as well. The OL is full of polys and black players.

Also transferring over from UW is LB Cooper McDonald, who joins his brother Caden as a starting LB. Caden is a seasoned veteran of the SDSU defense. Joining them is DE Garret Fountain.

Offense -
QB - Braxton Burmeister
TE - Mark Redman
TE - Jay Rudolph
LG - Cade Bennett or Kyle Trombley

Defense -
DE - Garret Fountain *in a battle for position
LB - Cooper McDonald
LB - Caden McDonald

Notable back ups include QB Kyle Crum, TEs Gus McGee and Aaron Greene, C Thomas Mirabella, and DE Wyatt Draeger.

Nice write-up. Cool to see two brothers at the LB position. Agreed on Burmeister - Va Tech was a dumpster fire.

Alright they have some interesting pieces to cheer for this season. Too bad their OL is sumo ladden, or we'd be looking at Double Digit starters.
