Here are the projected whites starting for the Bearcats this year. Cincinnati started 8 whites last year, and 10 in 2007. They are back in double-digits this year. Hopefully, they can win the Big East again this year. We also have another snow patrol to look forward to watching this year.

Jack, these are stunning numbers for a Big East team, and a team that is just over the river from SEC country. Any idea on how they are so white this year? Go Bearcats.

I like this team! John Goebel is a very underrated RB and is absolutely better than Jacob Ramsey. If I were the coach, I'd make Goebel the starter with Pead being used like MJD or Derrick Ward. Pead is also a very talented RB, but is a true light framed scat back- where Goebel has more power. Pead is also only going into his second year on the team and Goebel's a junior I believe. Here's hoping Goebel sees half the carries or more.

Here are some reasons I've been able to come up with, referendum.

1. Cincinnati was tied for the whitest recruiting class in the Big East this year, even though overall the class sucked(less than half-white), it shows Cincy may be one of the whitest teams in the Big East.

2. Coach Brian Kelly has been relatively white-friendly over the past two years, judging from the last couple of years, starting no less than 8 whites. I hope he is white-friendly. Cincinnati gave him a 1-year extension recently, keeping him there through 2015. I'm not sure how he was at Central Michigan, but I'll look.

3. Also, you have a lot of upper classmen white players have gotten starting roles. There are also a lot of younger whites on the depth chart, too, including 2 white WRs listed as 2nd string. It looks like next year, Cincinnati could have two white safeties starting, along with another 2-3 white LBs, if CFN's depth chart is accurate. We'll find out next year, I guess.

Jack, thanks for your insight, and all your college fooball work for that matter. Also, I looked at where these white recruits are from, and almost all were from Ohio and Michigan. Its amazing how many white football players come from those two states.

No problem, referendum.

I love doing this type of work too. Hopefully, the Bearcats dominate the mostly black Big East again this year. They are one of my favorite teams this year.

@WP, I get my info from a variety of sources, but the one I use the most is College Football News.

Will be a fun game to watch if John and Joe both get a lot of carries Monday night! I wish I could see it. Thanks a lot, World's Worst Cable Package!

Well, no Goebel sighting against USF.
But backup QB Zach Collaros just outran USF's entire secondary for a 75 yard touchdown. And yet those ESPN bastards still couldn't bring themselves to use the words "speed" or "fast". The best they could muster was "shifty".
If nothing else, I think Brian Kelly has to seriously consider giving Collaros some touches out of the backfield.

The Bearcats seem to play 4-5 whites on defense at all times. I wish Goebel was in the game. Linkenbach has shut down Selvie all game one on one. Great to see Collaros run all over USF. The Bearcats seem to be giving whites a fair chance this season. A team to root for.

And Scott Van Puss insults Collaros immediately after the game on the Sportscenter highlights.
On his long TD run, he "imitated" Collares, saying "I'm runnin' out of gas, I'm runnin' out of gas!" all while wheezing.
I want this network destroyed.

Glad to see no one is fuming at coach Kelly about John Goebel yet. I think we should take a wait and see approach with Goebel before we start complaining that he's getting screwed. Although Goebel was statistically the second most efficient RB last year (in YPC and longest run) behind Pead, Ramsey was averaging a stellar 7.7 YPC this year while Goebel nursed an injury. You got to figure, with Ramsey playing so well in his senior year and Pead being the perfect compliment as a scat back to his rugged powerful style, that Goebel isn't going to get much time. This is the case, unless Ramsey really comes back to earth. Ramsey didn't play well tonight, but Pead played solid. Pead was averaging 5.8 YPC before this game and tonight ran for a solid 4.8 YPC against a good team.

What I'm saying is, we'll really be able to judge coach Kelly on Goebel if he doesn't fill Ramsey's current role once Ramsey graduates next year. Ramsey or Pead starting to struggle is about the only way Goebel gets significant time this year, even though Goebel is the second most athletically talented and probably most versatile tailback on the team. Since the Bearcats are doing so well, we can't expect a big change in PT decisions right now. I'm still hopeful Kelly will give Goebel "AT LEAST" 5 touches a game or give him a Kevin Faulk type role, but that's about the best we can really expect right now.

Just updating the Bearcats starters. It appears I was wrong with the LBs, the Bearcats only starting Schaffer. However, DE Dan Giordano, and LB Marcus Waugh both get some playing time in games. Also, until Pike gets back, I'll put Collaros in as the starter.Edited by: Jack Lambert

Cinci must feel blessed to have to extremely talented and athletic quarterbacks. One guy goes down and they don't miss a beat. Other programs utilizing black quarterbacks should take note.

<div>Zach Collaros to start against West Virginia, but Pike will play too.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Quarterback Zach Collaros will start for
fifth-ranked Cincinnati against West Virginia on Friday night, with
Tony Pike expected to play as well for the first time since he hurt his
non-throwing arm.</div>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">Coach Brian Kelly announced Collaros will be his
starter Tuesday. The sophomore backup has played spectacularly and kept
the Bearcats (9-0) in the national title conversation while Pike heals
from surgery to replace a metal plate in his left forearm.</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">Collaros
threw for 480 yards â€" the second-highest total in school history â€"
during a 47-45 win over Connecticut on Saturday night. Pike warmed up
before the game, but didn't play. Kelly said the senior will run some
plays against West Virginia (7-2).</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">"We're going to try to put a
couple different packages in and just go from there," Pike said after
practice Tuesday. "Obviously getting back out there and practicing is
one thing, but in the game it's a different speed. That's the biggest
thing.</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">"With how well Zach's playing right now, it's going to be
a little better for him to be able to mix me in there a little bit and
go from there and see how I'm feeling."</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">The Bearcats have a bye
next week, giving Pike a couple more weeks of practice to sharpen his
skills after so much missed time. Kelly said the plan is to have Pike
start against Illinois on Nov. 27 in Cincinnati.</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">Pike's injury
and Collaros' remarkable job as the fill-in presented a conundrum for
Kelly. Pike was one of the nation's top passers before he got hurt,
earning mention as a long shot for the Heisman Trophy. Collaros has won
his first three collegiate starts, bringing a new element to the spread
offense with his mobility.</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">Now, Kelly has to choose between them with a second straight
Big East title on the line. If he goes ahead with his plan to start
Pike against Illinois, he'll be benching a backup quarterback who threw
for 480 yards in a big game.
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">"That's new territory for me," Kelly
said. "I can't say that in 19 years of being a head coach that I've had
that kind of a dilemma, if you will. Again, the nice part about it is
that our football team has absolutely no concerns over who's leading
them, if it's Zach or Tony. That's a great thing to have.
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">"Where
controversies come in is when your room is split. There is no split.
They know they can win and win at a high level with both these guys.
That's a very unique circumstance."
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">Pike is more of a pro-style
passer, 6-foot-6 with a strong arm. Collaros is barely 6-feet tall and
much more adept at running the ball. Both have flourished in Kelly's
no-huddle offense.
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">Leading receiver Mardy Gilyard said Tuesday
that both quarterbacks have done so well the players have equal
confidence in them. Gilyard has given both of them nicknames.
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">"Zach
has moves, so I call him the joystick," Gilyard said. "And I call Tony
the pistol. I think the names fit. Zach's a little wiggly guy, a little
squirty guy back there, sort of like a joystick (in a video game). Of
course, Pike has the cannon, so that's why I call him pistol."
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">Pike
broke his left forearm last season, had a plate inserted to help the
healing, and returned after missing two games. The plate was damaged on
a hit during a 34-17 win over South Florida on Oct. 15, and he had a
new one inserted. Pike got a special splint late last week and was able
to fully practice again for the first time in nearly three weeks.
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">Collaros'
impressive play has allowed Cincinnati to give Pike more healing time.
In his three starts and three other games off the bench, Collaros has
completed 76 percent of his passes for 1,229 yards, 10 touchdowns and
one interception. He also has run for 311 yards and four touchdowns.
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">"Clearly
when Zach has come in, he's played at a high level," Kelly said. "It's
allowed us now to set that bar a little higher for Tony in the sense
that now we don't have to put him back in there until he's 100 percent.
But when Tony's back to that level, he's our starter. He's not quite
there yet."
</a>

Kelly said Pike and his doctors are involved in deciding when he plays because some risk will be involved.

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">"What
we don't want to do is put him in a situation where there's a high risk
factor," Kelly said. "Why play him at all? Because we think that the
risk has been minimized. He has risk in anything he'll do for the next
three months, quite frankly."
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">When Pike returned after missing
only two games last season, he had some numbness in the left hand and
had to leave a couple of games early. Pike said with Collaros playing
so well, it made sense to give him more healing time this year.
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">"Last
year, we kind of pushed it a little bit too early," Pike said. "This
year with how well Zach was doing, there was no need for that."
</a>

<a href="http://images.video.msn.com/js/ch/channels.css" target="_blank">Kelly
said running back Jacob Ramsey has a sprained foot and won't play
against West Virginia. Ramsey is second to Isaiah Pead in carries and
yards, and Kelly uses both of them in games. John Goebel, who has
missed most of the season with an injured hamstring and broken hand, is
likely to play more.
