This is sad news, as this is one of the few white recruitsfor OU this year.

One of the top recruits in Oklahoma's Class of 2009 appears to be in trouble before ever suiting up for the Sooners.

According to reports, defensive end Justin Chaisson, who signed last month to play at Oklahoma, made his first court appearance Thursday in Las Vegas after being arrested in connection with several felonies stemming from an alleged attack against his former girlfriend.

Chaisson's felony charges reportedly include assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and coercion. Other charges include a gross misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor charge of battery constituting domestic violence, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

According to Scout.com, Chaisson is a four-star recruit and is the No. 14-ranked defensive end in the Class of 2009

The Web site NewsOK.com said Chaisson is scheduled to return to Las Vegas for a preliminary hearing on April 29.

"Certainly this is a difficult period of time for him and his family, and we intend to defend the charges and work toward a resolution," Chaisson's lawyer, Michael Cristalli, told the Review-Journal.

Citing a Las Vegas police report, NewsOK.com said witnesses claim Chaisson and his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend argued in a parking lot before Chaisson followed the girl to a coffee shop.

The report said Chaisson grabbed the girl's arm outside the coffee shop and forced her into the back seat of his sport-utility vehicle, where his younger brother was already sitting.

According to NewsOK.com, the girl told police Chaisson punched her in the ribs and drove her to the desert before pulling her out of the vehicle. She reportedly said he then placed a screwdriver against her neck and threatened to kill her.

The girl's account of the incident reportedly states Chaisson again grabbed her and put her in his vehicle after two of the girl's friends drove up to the scene. One of the friends reportedly called 911 while following Chaisson's vehicle. According to the police report, the incident ended when Chaisson made his ex-girlfriend leave the vehicle after driving to a storage facility.

The report states the girl's stepfather met with Chaisson and his father, Jim, after the incident. Chaisson's father reportedly said his son was to begin anger management classes on March 18.

NewsOK.com said Chaisson and the girl dated for 2 1/2 years before breaking up in February, according to the police report.

OU spokesman Kenny Mossman told NewsOK.com school officials would not comment on Chaisson's situation until they know more information.
