I know what you are thinking, why ASU? Well, for some unknown reason, they are my favorite Sun Belt team. Here are your probable White Indians for the upcoming season.

Offense
QB Corey Leonard
LT Matt Mandich
RG Matt Reibe
C Heath Lockley
RT Kyle Koets
LG Sean Marshall or Dominic Padrta

Defense
WLB Matt Taylor
SLB Koby McKinnon

a virtual unknown to most of the football world, ASU sophomore quarterback Corey Leonard is playing some really good football for the perennial cellar dwellers.

Leonard was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive
Player of the Week for the third time this season on Monday.

Leonard led ASU to a 52-21 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette while pacing the Indians' offense that recorded a school-record and Sun Belt Conference season-high 681 yards of total offense by throwing for a school-record five touchdowns, rushing for another touchdown and piling up a career-high 359 yards of total offense, the fourth most in ASU history.

Leonard's six total touchdowns tied the Sun Belt Conference record and were the most by a SBC player this season. He completed 17-of-23 passes (.739 completion percentage) without an interception for a career-high 275 yards and added 84 yards rushing, just six yards shy of his career high.

as an aside, sophomore defensive back Evan Van Dolah (a white athlete) is the fastest ASU Indian, running a reported 4.36 40-yard dash.

Looks like Evan will probably start next year, as the two starting safeties are seniors. It will be interesting to see how he does with that kind of speed! He is tied for 8th on the team in tackles despite playing as a backup and having no starts. Wow!

Congrats to Leonard, especially considering their tough schedule this year!

I was at the Memphis rainout (didn't get to go to the makeup... damn).
Leonard has really turned it on this year. We saw that he could run last year, but his passing accuracy on the move has been incredible. I think his mobility gives him a confidence that allows him to hold the ball longer and keep his wits about him long enough to find the best choice downfield. It's also damned tough to defend against that offense when he rolls to the corner. Teams have no choice but to keep somebody at home, otherwise Corey will break off a 15 yard run.
Roberts and Ruse have really done an amazing job of tailoring the offense to fit their players. It's just a shame about that ULM loss. ASU should've had a shot at 10-2 this season. Alas, that's how it always goes with ASU. They will lose at least one game that they were absolutely guaranteed to win. They can still go bowling, though. They just need to get the defense to focus earlier in the game. Can't always outscore everybody in the second half.

Evan Van Dolah gets a short write-up in Draft Daddy, which writes (tongue planted firmly in cheekwhen mentioning not signing with the SECI assume):

While checking out the bio's of the players we watched over the weekend, we noticed that 6' 2", 205 pound sophomore safety Evan Van Dolah reportedly runs in the 4.3's. He's already a good football player, so with more experience he could be a very solid N.F.L. prospect (i.e. Brannon Condren), if he runs anywhere close to that reported time. Looking at Van Dolah's bio, it's almost shocking to think he did not sign with an SEC team as a "athlete".

Had to dig to find this old thread, since there's not really a high frequency of ASU updates on this forum

.
Some news may be of interest to one of our players, though.
Preston Brown suspended
Preston Brown would've split time with Reggie Arnold at tailback this season. This might be a significant development because Derek Lawson was taking snaps as RB#3 during spring practice. Derek is one of ours. He used to have a thread on this site, but it seems to have been deleted. I'm not going to get my hopes up too high. After all, Brown has only been suspended (even though he has been in trouble previously). Hopefully the investigation drags on into the Fall so that Coach Roberts's only option will be to name Derek RB2. It may not be how we'd like our guys to get playing time, but PT-by-default is better than no PT at all.

Speaking of the Arkansas State Indians, they are becoming the Red Wolves, thanks to the idiotic NCAA. Here's the new logo

<DIV ="floatnone">Here's a picture of Derek Lawson, the awesome Sophomore RB from Nettleton that Riddlewire mentioned. He's listed at 5-11, 210 on last year's roster. Derek should be the number 2 RB now, but you never can tell with the Caste System in place.
