I think this is the make or break year for Lemaitre. If he has another sub-par performance like last year we may see the end of a legend. I'll have to change my affiliation to Gemilli or Michael Tumi or the dark horse..... Dario Horvat. I can't wait to see what Kiryu can do as a 17 year old.

VERY GOOD TIME !

from 2009:

Usain Bolt's winning time in Sunday's rarely run 150 metres was an eye-popping 14.35sec, smashing the previous best-known time for the distance of Canada's Donovan Bailey - 14.99sec run on bend against Michael Johnson in 1997.

Do these times take account of speed of sound?

Speed of sound: 340 m/s (approximatively).
Time for the start signal to travel a distance of 80m and reach the person who activates the chronometer: 80/340 = 0.24s.

So the real time for 80m can be 8.10 or 8.34, which is not exactly the same.

I believe that these times were announced just for psychological reasons. CL has to be confident about his capacities and this is probably not the case at this moment.

Maybe some people can only get so fast despite an inordinate amount of training. I hope Lemaitre's 9.92 is not as fast as he is ever going to go. He probably has the talent to get into the low 9.8's but he really needs to focus on the first 40 meters. Michael Tumi could have run a 6.47 60 meters if he got the time Vicaut did when leaving the blocks.

Not if the timer also fired the gun. Then the time would be 8.1 - 0.24 or 7.86. But often the timer (coach) will start the watch when the runner moves. Then the timer's and runner's combined reaction times need to be added to compare to electronic times.

It would be good if it were electronic timed. 8.10 manual is like 8.4 electronic, and 14.90 is more like 15.4 electronic.

YOU COMPARE BOLT and CHRISTOPHE ?
:faint2:
YOU COMPARE bolt's race in MAY 2009 with christophe's race in MARCH 2013, with a VERY COOL temperature (6°c) :faint2:

CONGRATULATION ONE MORE TIME ! :icon_lol:

it's MANUUUUEL TIMMMMMEE !!!!

yes,
8.10 = 8.34 and it's a very good time for Christophe in MARCH and with a very very cool temperature (6°c) !!!
8.34 = 10.06 in 100m
10.06 IN MARCH with a cool temperature (6°c) it's not a very good time ? :huh:

in 2012 ; first 100M (28th of April) 10.45 with -1,7m/s
in 2011 : first 100M (21th of April) 10.19 with +0.8m/s
in 2010 : first 100M (1st of May) 10.09 with +1m/s

10.06 with cool temperature (6°c) = with good condition .... ?

150M :
14.90 = 15.14
15.14 in MARCH with a very cool temperature (6°c) it's not a very good time ? :huh:

during his record (19.80) in SEPTEMBER with very good condition, Christophe ran 14.91 in 150m

15.14 = between 20.10 and 20.20 in 100M !!

in 2012 first 200M (6th of may) 20.48 with -0.5m/s
in 2011 first 200M (8th of may) 20.33 with -2.2m/s
in 2010 first 200M (5th of june) 20.56 with -1.8m/s

20.10-20.20 with cool temperature (6°c) = with good condition ... ?

Do not forget that Christophe makes his times with a very very cool temperature (6°c) and very early in the season.
last sunday morning he ran 80M, then 150M and then 250M. 3 races !

RUN with 6°c it's a real handicap ! maybe +0.10, +0.15s I don't know.

I think that Christophe can already run sub 10 for his first 100M in April.-

Yes, it's very cold in Europe.
I think, that he has been run with one or two Tracksuits (sweat suits?).
That's an enormous disadvantage.

Manual times in training have some imponderabilites. Taking the time at the first step or with reaction or whatever ...
We don't know anything about the wind regime.
But I think 14,90 is a very good time...

I don't think Tumi will get anywhere near it.

He looks far too stiff/bulky.
i agree that he is bulky francois. but regardless his aim has to be a new pb to break into the 10.2s... it has to be the next step for him and his coach ...i think he is like andre yepshin from type ..ie a 60 meter specialist who should do it over 100 meters ...he has youth on his side ...time will tell :shy:

I'm excited about his possiblities heading into this summer and of course at the world champs in moscow! One thing about Christophe is that he hates to lose. He gets embarassed and he also gets very mad at himself. Coach Carazz and Lemaitre both know that last year was a big step backwards and they seem to be on the right track back to becoming a contender over both distances again. We won't really know for sure though until he runs a few 100 and 200 races outdoors. I do feel good about his chances at the moment but I will remain mostly silent since I have been let down before.

Some good news about Christophe. His biography will be out on April 30th of 2013. I really am anxious to read this book and it's getting nice reviews so far. Here is a preview. I really recomend that everyone here that loves athletics, should go buy this book. This kid made history and now the possibilities are endless. European Sprinters now have no more excuses. They can succeed too. Here is the link.

Beginning next weekend Christophe will run 3 races in the next month beginning with an individual 100 at the Penn Relays. The field is
stacked as always and he is hoping for a very fast opener. Here is a great article detailing his plans.

"I do not know where I am but we did tests on 80m, 150m and 250m and the coach told me he had never timed such a fast times, especially at the 150m."

That is good news. I would like to see Christophe run the 150 Manchester race. He should be able to run under 14.9 on a straightaway.
