NFL comish Roger Goodell has finally noticed that rookie salaries are a joke. My problem is with his timing and example.
From the article linked below:
"Goodell referred to Michigan tackle Jake Long's five-year, $57.75 million contract -- with $30 million guaranteed. Long was the first overall draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in April.
"He doesn't have to play a down in the NFL and he already has his money," Goodell said during a question-and-answer period at the end of a weeklong sports symposium at the Chautauqua Institution."
So a clean-cut white player now gets to become the face of the rookie salary problem. Where was Goodell last year when Cantaloupe Shoulders was cleaning out the Raiders' or when Radio was hauling it in or when any number of other highly touted black rookies were getting paid ridiculous amounts of money?
I guess he isn't quite as tough as I thought he was.
