Off the race topic, the NFL draft is proving, once again, just how
stupid those who run these franchises are. With no ability to think for
themselves, these idiots all subscribe to the "best available athlete"
nonsense, which was started by some other idiot many years ago. This
theory only makes sense for a team that has solid starters at every
position, which means it doesn't apply to any team in the modern era.
Carried to its logical extreme, both San Diego and Houston should have
drafted Aaron Rodgers with their #1 pick, since he had to have been far
and away the top ranked player on their boards. It shouldn't matter
that they both have solid young QBs, if you accept this ridiculous
theory, as everyone in the NFL (and their sychophants in the media)
does. This rant was brought on especially by Detroit's pick of Mike
Williams. How dumb is that? A team with holes everywhere, taking a WR
in the first round for the 3rd year in a row! Matt Millen is a real
piece of work. Speaking of Williams, he looks to be the slowest WR I've
ever seen, judging by the highlight films of him. How can he possibly
be ranked over a physical specimen like Matt Jones?

Quite agree bigunreal! The "best available athlete" (notice that the acronym for aforementioned theory spells baa, the sound that sheep make) is nonsense as you say. The draft is to find "players" , fill needs and shore up weaknesses. Millen and Tice seem to be in some sort of an unspoken contest for stupidest white guy in pro football.

They all seem to lack the ability to have an original thought. Just look at how Aarron Rodgers stock fell in one week span. He was projected as the possible #1 overall, then somebody somewhere whispered that maybe he shouldn't go that high and like cyborgs they and all the media dropped him to the late twenties. I think thats where he ended up going. The draft is really a guessing game - I bet it is amazing how everyone's preselection draft board looks the same - like Mel Kiper's.

These guys just continue to amaze me. Charlie Casserly was the
laughingstock of the NFL when he was in Washington. He is a complete
adherent to the ridiculous "best available athlete" drafting theory,
and his drafts always reflect this, to the constant detriment of his
team. David Carr is one of the best young QBs in the NFL, imho, but he
is going to be killed unless they get him some decent offensive
linemen. Casserly has given Carr absolutely no help at all in that
regard in this draft, and hasn't signed any free agent offensive
linemen, either. That's just the most blatant example of this
lemming-like allegiance to a really absurd way of building a team. I've
often wished someone would let me run an NFL team. Just picking from
the ignored and misused white players alone would form the foundation
for a winning franchise.

I'd love to see the NFL organized along racial lines, say 15 black teams, 15 white teams, and 2 teams comprised of Samoans, hispanics and "others." Of course it's a total pipedream in acountry powered by the suicidal ideology of "multiculturalism" and racial admixture, but if it actually happened, in a highly competitive way (not in a racial war type thing), it would make the NFLeven farmore popular than it is now.
