I think today is the day that the UFC has finally jumped the shark

Former welterweight contender Jon Fitch was among the 16 UFC fighters who were released from the promotion on Tuesday.

UFC president Dana White also confirmed with MMAFighting.com that the following fighters were also let go: Wagner Prado, Mike Russow, Jacob Volkmann, Vladimir Matyushenko, Che Mills, Jay Hieron, Terry Etim, Paul Sass, Jorge Santiago, Mike Stumpf, Simeon Thoresen, C.J. Keith, Motonobu Tezuka, Josh Grispi and Ulysses Gomez.

They didn't close the deal with top 5 HW Josh Barnett, just cut great and proven WW Fitch, and a good LW prospect in Volkmann, and allegedly they plan to cut 100 more, they are just feeding fighters to Bellator, a promotion that runs a much tighter ship than any of their former competition since Pride, and has major Viacom support.

I love it because I can't stand two-faced Dana "F***ing" White that said women would never fight in the UFC then one year later has women headlining a PPV card over Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida, and most importantly I think that he just got WAY too big for his britches. I really hope the UFC starts to tank over the coming years and other promotions rise up.

Here's a well articulated and reasoned video about women in the UFC that aggravates a lot of conditioned "intellectuals" and enlightened lemmings but I think that you guys will love:

By the way, did you guys know that two official UFC rankers have Ronda Rousey in the top 10 "P4P", both listing her at #8(Jeff Wagenheim of SI.com and Anthony Springer Jr of the obscure site "FightNews")? That's right, they have her ahead of every male fighter but 7, including male bantamweights when she weighs in at 135 pounds. They rank her ahead of Renan Barao, Urijiah Faber and Michael McDonald. Does "pound for pound" even have meaning anymore? Did it ever?

The hype for Ronda Rousey is out of control.

Outstanding (video) analysis there. I can appreciate the efforts (training, etc.) of women fighters, BUT they are NOT elite & could never hang with the men (even D level "cans").

As for Dana White, he might be very savvy on marketing/hype, but he's an egomaniacal d0uchebag. I'd love to see Bellator give the UFC a run for the (literal) money.

This circus side show can only make the UFC seem desperate for buyers. In a sport with depth problems on the men's side what is the female side like? They only have one weight division for the organization and nobody knows any fighters besides Rousey? The only active female MMA fighter that Rousey can fight for legitimate headlines is Cyborg and the two will have to fight at a catch weight bout. At least when they fight we can legitimately say the bearded lady was featured for the carnival(Cyborg).......:icon_lol: Ps here is the Fonz jumping the shark...:biggrin1:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4ZGKI8vpcg

“I have a lot of respect for Jon [Fitch] and I have a lot of respect for anyone who has to courage to do what these guys do and the athletic ability to do what they do but we are not going to be signing Jon Fitch,â€￾ Rebney said prior to Bellator 90.

A stupid move. He is scared that Fitch will destroy his welterweight division but his best gambit is to bring him in and hope that several of his fighters can beat Fitch as he's getting old and on the decline and Bellator fighters would stand to gain rankings and would thereby legitimize the Bellator WW division.
