Pole Vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva continued her winning ways by breaking the indoor record this past weekend in Russia. She is now pretty much the star of stars in T&F. Jumping events can get the crowds in a frenzy because there is a buildup and even some song and dance, YI picks a song for her routine , pumps the crowd up and then goes for it. She has all the qualities of a mega star. Much like tennis starMaria Sharapova ,YI has an exuberant personality, attractive look and a feminine quality that draws media and fans in. She is also in rarified air, no pun intended, as far as white athletes go because the sky is the limit for her. Usually that sort of talk is reserved for black athletes. But it suits YI. She is in search of new athletic frontiers and heightsand if reports are accurate she has fans eating out of her hands. She is Big Time!!!!

I couldn't agree more with you.Isinbayeva is the class
of her event.She has model looks and trains as hard as
anyone.She is very well liked and respected by just
about everyone.I would expect some to be jealous of her
success though.I like wathcing her compete.I can say the
same thing about most of the Russian Women Athletes.I
am waiting for the Men to take it to the next level With
athletes of the past like V.Borzov and S.Bubka,how can
they continue to be so uncompetetive.Russia,is one of
only 3 countries big enough to really compete with
anyone out there.I think the other 2 are the US and soon
to be China.
