Here we have a story of black Big 10 ref who has a history of bankruptcy, casino gambling, child abuse and allegations of sexual harassment. He also reffed the Illinois/Ohio State game. Looks like bigunreal's theory of corrupt black players and officials isn't too far off the mark.

A Big Ten football officiating team that came under scrutiny for its performance in two conference games last month was led by a crew chief with a history of bankruptcy, casino gambling, child abuse and allegations of sexual harassment, a Yahoo! Sports investigation has revealed.

The revelations about the Big Ten referee, Stephen Pamon, come four months after an NBA referee pleaded guilty to felony charges stemming from allegations he bet on NBA games in which he officiated and provided inside information to high-stakes gamblers.

Stephen Pamon has a history of bankruptcy, casino gambling, child abuse and sexual harassment allegations.
Although there is no evidence linking Pamon to gambling on games, the NBA incident rattled the sports world and cast light on the conduct of officials. Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany was one of several sports executives who addressed the situation, and he detailed steps the Big Ten takes to investigate the backgrounds of its officials.

Great find, eaxs!

Yes, it seems like more and more ne'er-do-wells are making their way
onto the field of play these days, doesn't it?

One thing you must keep in consideration about a former child abuser
and sexual harrasser, is that he is a compromised man--he will do just
about anything you want, just so that the truth of his past won't get out
and he won't lose his current position. Its very useful to have these types
in your employ--they are infinitely malleable and corruptable.

Gambling and sports are like siamese twins.

And of course, blacks have a disproportionate amount of people in their
racial group with compromised backgrounds--skeletons, it you will.

Yeah, after reading your and bigunreal's thoughts on all of this gambling and corruption after Saint Taylor's death, I really got to thinking about how seedy pro/college (same thing basically) sports are.

I also agree about the skeletons in the closet. That is probably why he "passed" the NCAA and Big 10 background check. And to think, this is one guy out of how many like this? And why the expose on just this one guy? Have coaches and fans complained enough about this guy and his crew to the point where they were forced to do something or is there a more sinister reason?

The one thing I have always felt is the weakest link in the pro leagues are the zebras. The only make a working man's salary(or slightly above one)and many are failed players who probably harbour resentment against the players that made it to the pros. How this donkey made through a screening process is beyond me. Coaches receive sanctions for taking a kid out to lunch but a degenerate gambler who could sway a call or two is allowed near a field and is running a game...
