check out this story!the kid had nearly 2,000 yards receiving last year, as well. he's a 6'4" one-man-gang, and is already blowing up this year, but *surprisingly* he's not been offered any D-1 scholarships yet...hmmm. i saw him play in the state playoffs last year, and he reminds me a lot of marcus monk, the "phenomenal" sophomore wide receiver for the Razorbacks. they even played at the same level of Arkansas football, but somehow monk was "awesome" and this guy is just another white kid at a small school. you be the judge! this story is from the first game of the season, last Thursday.

CONWAY -- The Harding Academy Wildscats were like a Jaguar with a bad starter on Thursday night. When you could get the engine to catch, they ran like a dream. But they also sputtered and clicked and clanged.
When quarterback Zach Tribble wasn't fleeing for his life from onrushing Little Rock Christian lineman or hurrying passes, he was doing what he likes to do best: throw touchdown passes to Kurt Adams. Or more accurately, throw passes to Adams that Adams turned into touchdowns.

Adams spent most of the evening looking like a gazelle prancing across the open plain, scoring six touchdowns in just about every imaginable way, though all in jaw-dropping fashion. He finished with 348 all-purpose yards: 224 in receiving, 36 rushing and 88 returns.

Meanwhile, Harding Academy stuffed the new-look Warrior offense until some late-game lapses in a 39-27 win in the Hootens.com Kickoff Classic at Estes Stadium at the University of Central Arkansas.

About the only running the Wildcats did on Thursday was done by Adams after receptions or double reverse hand-offs on kickoffs or reverses from the line of scrimmage. Other than that, Harding Academy got nothing going on the ground, finishing the night with four yards on 21 carries.

Harding raced to a 25-0 half-time lead, thanks to four Tribble-to -Adams touchdown passes. Tribble found Adams from 35 yards 7 1/2 minutes into the contest. Less than three minutes later, Adams caught one across the middle and galloped down the middle of field for a 34-yard touchdown.

Late in the first half, Adams reached up and grabbed a nine-yard pass just inside the right pylon. Three minutes later, Adams caught a pass in the left flat and raced untouched 69 yards to put the Wildcats up 25-0.

After Little Rock Christian drove 54 yards late in the third quarter to make it 25-7, it was Adams again, this time taking a hand-off on a double reverse on the ensuing kickoff and streaking down the left sideline for an 88-yard score.

The Warriors struck again against Harding's second defense, but Adams took a reverse hand-off and raced 36 yards for his sixth touchdown.

Harding finished with 320 total yards, with Zach Tribble completing 16-of-33 for 316 yards and four touchdowns.

The Warriors were held to 64 first-half yards but ended with 342. Quarterback Matt Mozzoni finished 12-of-28 for 205 yards, but he threw four interceptions - three of those by Luke Tribble.

Adams repeats feat in Wildcat romp

If you think you've mistakenly picked up last week's sports page, you haven't.

It's just that Kurt Adams is making a habit of scoring six touchdowns in a game.

Adams followed his six-touchdown performance against Little Rock Christian Sept. 1 by catching five touchdown passes and returning an interception for another in Harding Academy's 46-7 trouncing of Clarendon Friday night at First Security Stadium.

"We can play better on offense," said Harding Academy head coach Tommy Shoemaker, who watched his quarterback Zach Tribble take quite a few shots from onrushing linemen. "I know we scored enough but I'm not all that pleased with that side of the ball."

Adams hauled in 12 passes for 220 yards and Tribble threw for 321 total yards as the Wildcats jumped on the Lions early and never let up, rolling to a 19-0 first-quarter lead.

"He's every bit as good as advertised," said Clarendon head coach Larry Reeder, whose Lions put up little resistance and, at times, it seemed, little effort. Clarendon quarterbacks threw five interceptions.

It didn't take long for Adams to make his presence known. One play actually. The 6-foot, four-inch senior got behind the Clarendon defense on the Wildcats' first play from scrimmage and caught a Tribble pass for a 48-yard touchdown just 1:16 into the contest.

Three minutes later, Michael Hickmon tipped a William Southern pass, which was picked off by Slade Hickmon at the Clarendon 44.

Tribble found Adams for 31 yards to the 18 and three plays later, Adams had his second touchdown of the game -- and eighth of the season -- when he caught a six-yard pass at the right pylon for a 12-0 lead.

Adams picked of another Southern pass on the Lions' next possession and raced 35 yards for a 19-0 Wildcat lead, still with 4:25 left in the first quarter.

The Harding Academy offense sputtered throughout most of the rest of the half, however, as the two teams traded four turnovers over the next 12 minutes -- two by each team.

The Wildcats took over at their own 48 with 2:17 left in the half. Hickmon ripped off a 14-yard run and Adams caught a pass for 11 yards to the 27. Tribble found brother Luke Tribble for 18 yards to the 13.

One play later, Adams caught a pass at the three, cut left and fell across the goal line as the Wildcats went into the locker room leading 25-0.

Harding Academy had 242 total yards at the half to just 95 for Clarendon.

It was more of the same in the second half, though it took the Wildcats three possessions to add to their lead. This one was vintage Adams as he leapt above two defenders in the end zone to make a fingertip grab for Tribble's 13-yard pass to make it 32-0.

It wasn't until 9:35 remained that the score reached the 35-point mercy-rule level and it happened on perhaps the best offensive play of the evening. Tribble made a great fake on a reverse handoff, received outstanding blocking, stepped up in the pocket and delivered a perfect pass to a wide open Adams streaking across the middle on a post route. The play was good for 47 yards and and a 39-0 lead.

Only two issues remained in doubt -- whether Harding Academy could hold on to the shutout and whether Adams would maintain his monopoly on the Wildcat scoring for the season. To that point he had all 12 of Harding Academy's touchdowns on the season.

The answer would turn out to be no on both counts. The Wildcats lost their shutout when Southern scored from 10 yards with 3:53 remaining.

And J.T. Fisher became the first player other than Adams to hit paydirt this season when he bounced off a tackle and scampered 52 yards for the score with 1:34 left.

"J.T. has worked really hard," said Shoemaker. "He got a chance and even though it was against their second group, he ran hard. I was proud for him. He's going to help us." Fisher ran for 100 yards on just five carries.

Though Harding Academy racked up 407 yards of offense, Shoemaker was concerned about the play of the offensive line.

"Zach is taking too many hits," he said. "Our offensive line is going to have to get right. We're going to have to get that fixed because that's key to what we're doing."

But for the second week, Shoemaker raved about his defense, which forced five turnovers and allowed 264 yards.

"I'm just really pleased with how physical and how aggressive we are."

Jimmy, Zach sounds like Jesse Spinks of Lee Academy in Clarksdale,Mississippi. We all need to keep a watch on this guy and all the great white high school football players. Zach sounds awesome.

What a talent! I-A schools should be salivating over this kid, but he'll probably end up setting Div. II records somewhere.

Okra, my man you're missing the point. Zach is possibly adequate...maybe. the real guy is Kurt Adams! (he's now 6'5" btw) Adams has 20 receptions for 454 of the 637 yards worth of passes that Zach has thrown in 2 games, with most of those yards coming after the catch, as well as all 9 touchdowns! also, he has scored all but one of his team's TDs this season (9 receiving, 1 rushing, 1 kick return, and 1 interception return) including the first 12 in a row!

that, my deep-fried friend, is awesome!Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood
