2023 Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Since 2007 The Demon Deacons have started 7, 7, 10, 11, 10, 10, 8, 7, 7, 6, 7, 6, 6, 7, and 6 white athletes. This season they look to stay at just 6. All on offense. With 2 maybe 3 listed as second team defense. Look for SL-WR Taylor Morin to continue having an excellent college career as he will start as a Jr. for the second straight season. Also, there's Tennessee transfer WR Walker Merrill as a number 2 receiver. Would love to see two white WR's on the field at the same time for Wake this season. The new QB should be Mitch Griffis replacing longtime QB Sam Hartman. If Griffis doesn't impress early on, look for Jr. Michael Kern to get playing time. I thought Kern would be starting. I saw him his Freshman year in Winston Salem live as he came in for mop up duty for Hartman, he looked pretty good as a true Freshman and has a cannon for an arm. We'll see.
On defense it seems that one time starting safety, Nick Andersen has lost his first team position. Don't know why. Andersen had 3-4 INT's during freshman season.

MLB-Dylan Hazen RS/SO from The Woodlands Texas saw playing time last season is in a battle for the starting position with SR/TR Jacob Roberts out of NC A&T.
S-Nick Andersen-RS/SO. Should see playing time and could regain his starting position by the end of the year.

Honkeys have to earn everything. Can never be handed a starting job even though he’s been a contributor since a Freshman. Frustrating.
