Since 2006 Oklahoma has started 3, 5, 6, 7, 5, 6, 4, 3,3, 3, 5, 4, 3, 3, 2, 3 and 5. In 2023 the Sooners jump up to 7 White starters.

The mediocre Dillon Gabriel failed last year as the starter in Norman. However, he is again penciled in as the starter while promising freshman QB Jackson Arnold awaits an opportunity. There are a few promising freshman on the defensive side of the ball to keep an eye on in the next couple of years.

Players to watch out for are LT Jacob Sexton, WR Gavin Freeman, TE Blake Smith, LB Konnor Near

We all had hopeful optimism when Brent Venables was hired as head coach from Clemson. Looks like we were right to be positive as the Sooners tie their most pale starters since we’ve tracked them. So much better than the Stoops or Lincoln eras.

Regarding this under 6’ Pacific Islander from Hawaii starting at QB in the heartland, did Venables bring him in? Are there not countless more talented White players all over Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, etc? I think I know the answer….
