Since 2005, the Wolfpack have started 15, 12, 6, 4, 6, 11, 10, 11, 9, 5, 7, 8, 6, 8, 8, 6, and 8 whites, with no writeup done in 2013. In 2023, they look to start 8.

Wide receiver Spencer Curtis caught 18 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown last season and will look to expand on those marks. Running back Ashton Hayes is a Cal transfer who could split carries with the projected starter.

On defense, transfers LaDuke (Oregon) and Weed (Eastern Washington) join returning starter James Hansen.

The QB competition (between a black, a white, and a Polynesian) could determine if this team is one to root for, but unfortunately Illingworth seems to be trailing in the race. Tre Weed is an interesting addition, converting to “nickel safety” after playing cornerback multiple years.

Starters:
WR: Spencer Curtis
OT: Kai Arneson
OG: Frank Poso, Zac Welch
OC: Andrew Madrigal

DT: James Hansen
MLB: Jackson LaDuke
NB: Tre Weed

Backups:
QB: Shane Illingworth
RB: Ashton Hayes, Wesley Kommer
OT: Cole Feinauer
OG: Josh Grabowski, RJ Taylor
OC: Joey Capra
TE: Cooper Shults, Rory Morgan

DL: Louis Cresto, Thomas Witte
LB: Chris Smalley, Adam Weynand, Junior Walling, Malcolm McClure

When Ken Wilson came over from Oregon he brought a number of walk ons and gave them scholarships. This included WR Spencer Curtis, TE Cooper Shults (who was starter last year but lost his position this offseason to injury) and DE Louie Cresto (also a part time starter last year).

Wilson has also put a priority on in state, local preferred walk ons. He seems like he could be a potential caste buster.

Walk on RB Wesley Kommer is actually the leading returning rusher. I hope he sees carries behind Hayes (a Reno local) who will be splitting starter carries. There is also true freshman scholarship RB Noah Conner. So three serious RBs on this team.

NB Tre Weed has been talked up as someone who could line up outside.

Awesome! Thanks for the extra insight.

This team seems like a late-night watch except for the whole black quarterback thing.
