Here are Urban's white starters as they try to repeat as National Champs.

Offense
QB Tim Tebow-led the team in rushing last season
RT Phil Trautwein
LG Jim Tartt
C Drew Miller

Defense
DT Clint McMillan
DT Javier Estopinan

TE Tate Casey has apparently been demoted, at the same time there have been major shifts among the O linemen. Black Freshman QB Cameron Newton is expected to be the 2007 version of Tebow, as Meyer says he wants 2 QBs, and he doesn't want Tebow taking hits while trying to run like last year. We'll see if it works. WR Riley Cooper is still stuck in backup mode as well.

Florida safety Tony Joiner practiced Wednesday, one day after he was charged with felony burglary for allegedly trying to take his girlfriend's car out of a towing company's impound lot.

Coach Urban Meyer stripped Joiner of his captain's status and said the senior starter has not been cleared to play Saturday at top-ranked LSU.

Meyer said Joiner would not see the field as long as he is charged with a felony.

"I'm dealing with the facts that I know and that's he was out at the ridiculous time of the day, and that's not what I expect out of a captain," Meyer said. "So as of now, he's not a captain at the University of Florida. Any further disciplinary action is going to be a result of what I find out on the legal side of it."

Joiner walked off the practice field with his head down and was off limits to reporters.

Meyer said sophomore Dorian Munroe would start in place of Joiner against the Tigers.

Although the felony charge could be reduced to misdemeanor trespassing, Joiner's case could take several days or maybe even a couple of weeks to work its way through the state attorney's office.

Joiner was arrested around 5 a.m. Tuesday outside the fenced impound lot, Gainesville police said.

The owner of the property called the whole thing a misunderstanding, saying Joiner had arranged to pay the $76 towing bill and pick up the car. But when no one was there to help Joiner, police said, he pushed a heavy electric gate open, got into the car and started to drive off.

Joiner was the eighth Florida player arrested in the last seven months.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Florida receiver Percy Harvin might miss the rest of spring practice because of a nagging heel injury.

Harvin sat out practice Monday, wore a protective boot and was going to be re-evaluated before team doctors decide whether to shut him down for the spring.

"It's obviously not going to affect the fall," coach Urban Meyer said. "It might affect the rest of the spring. They're going to get a second opinion."

Harvin, Florida's most dynamic player, ran for 764 yards and six touchdowns last season and caught 59 passes for 858 yards and four scores.

But he hasn't played every game in either of his two seasons, missing time because of an ankle injury in 2006 and sitting out two games last year because of migraine headaches.

He's also missed practice because of a hip pointer, tendinitis in his Achilles' tendon/heel and tendinitis in his knee.

"He loses his mind sometimes when he gets hurt because he's so competitive," Meyer said. "He just wants to be right. He's had this for over a year and a half. We've treated it as tendinitis. It might be something more than that."

Frustrated by all the injuries, Harvin put in more time in the weight room and became one of the team's strongest players at his position. He opened spring practice around 200 pounds and hoped to avoid further injury.

"Percy's one of those guys that wants to be the best," Meyer said. "He saw that strength could help him avoid injury. He's had little dings here and there, and that strength is going to help him."

Receiver Louis Murphy also missed practice Monday because of a staph infection, but Meyer expected him to return to the field Wednesday.

If the media thinks he is Florida's "most dynamic" player, then I'm glad he's out. Hopefully this will help Riley Cooper get a few more looks.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Florida wide receiver Percy Harvin will miss the rest of spring practice and might need surgery to repair a heel injury.

Coach Urban Meyer said Monday that team doctors were consulting with specialists to determine how to treat Harvin's nagging right heel.

"It's unique," Meyer said. "Not many guys have ever had this, and the MRI showed that it's a significant injury."

Even if Harvin does have surgery, Meyer said he will be back at full speed before fall practice in August.

"Everything I've been told, there's no chance of any issue in the fall," Meyer said. "They just want to fix it."

Harvin first felt heel soreness in high school, and it really started bothering him last summer. It was initially treated as tendinitis, but doctors now believe it is a bone-related injury.

Harvin also has dealt with pain in his knee and hip, something Meyer said was a result of the speedy junior trying to compensate for the heel injury.

Harvin ran for 764 yards and six touchdowns last season and caught 59 passes for 858 yards and four scores.

He hasn't played every game in either of his two seasons, missing time because of an ankle injury in 2006 and sitting out two games last year because of migraine headaches. He's also missed practice because of heel, knee and hip soreness.

A University of Florida football player is accused of using a dead girl's credit card.
According to an article in the Gainesville Sun, Jamar Hornsby was released from custody after turning himself in Friday morning on a felony charge of credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.

It's not immediately clear how he got Ashley Slonina's credit card. Slonina, also a University of Florida student, died in a motorcycle accident in 2007 along with another football player, redshirt freshman Michael Guilford.

According to the newspaper, court records indicated the card abuse began on Oct. 13, 2007, the day after Slonina's death. Hornsby allegedly made 70 charges â€â€￾ 33 in Alachua County and 37 in Duval County - on a BP gas card.

The Sun said authorities were first alerted of the credit card fraud after Slonina's family noticed charges on the card they could not explain, and the charges continued over a six-month span.

Hornsby is black

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Florida football player was kicked off the team Friday after turning himself in on charges he used the gas credit card of a woman who was killed along with another player in a motorcycle accident.

Jamar Hornsby, a 21-year-old junior safety, learned Thursday that a judge had issued a warrant for his arrest on charges he used the dead woman's gas card for six months, so he surrendered on charges of credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card, lawyer Huntley Johnson said.

Hornsby was released from jail several hours later on his own recognizance.

It was not immediately clear how Hornsby got the card. Johnson declined to comment on the specifics of the case, but said they would cooperate with authorities.

The credit card belonged to Ashley Slonina, a Florida junior. She was riding a motorcycle with another football player, redshirt freshman Michael Guilford, last October that hit a median at a high rate of speed, police said. The two died at the scene. They were not wearing helmets.

Hornsby started using the gas card the day after Slonina died. The card was used 33 times in Alachua County and another 37 times in Jacksonville, where Hornsby is from. The total amount was $3,000, said Alachua County Sheriff's Office spokesman Stephen Maynard.

"I would love to hear the explanation for utilizing the card of a deceased person," Maynard said.

The sheriff's office will continue to investigate and forward their findings to the State Attorney's Office, Maynard said.

Florida coach Urban Meyer said in a statement that Hornsby "is not part of our program."

Hornsby missed five games last season after being suspended for selling free football tickets he received as a student. He was also arrested in April 2007 after a fight in Gainesville, but his lawyer said those charges were dropped.

State prosecutors did not return phone messages or e-mails seeking comment.

Patchan is white

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A University of Florida football player is recovering after being shot in the shoulder while at a Tampa area-park.

Florida coach Urban Meyer says Gator defensive lineman Matt Patchan is expected to fully recover.

Patchan was shot Friday night. Details of the shooting are not yet known.

The 6-foot-7, 265-pound Patchan enrolled early at Florida in January after graduating from high school.
