GLIAC preview: Jeff Janis, Saginaw Valley poised for run at national title
Jeff Janis has made the transformation from an unheralded 180-pound receiver with 4.6 speed coming out of high school to a gifted 6-foot-3, 220-pound All-American with the hands and speed (4.37) to play at the next level.
Janis hopes to duplicate his junior season (106 receptions, 1,635 yards, 17 TD) at Saginaw Valley State, but this time get rewarded with a trip to the Division II national playoffs.

SVSU wideout Jeff Janis eyes strong senior season and beyond
A national championship; the Harlon Hill Trophy; the National Football League. Saginaw Valley State University senior wide receiver Jeff Janis can hear the whispers, but he’s pushing them aside.
“I feel like the added attention I’ve been getting really makes me work even harder to achieve even more than what I have already done,” Janis said. “I do not think I’ve even come close to my potential.”
If Janis can tap into that yet-to-reach potential it could lead to frightening consequences for his Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents as last year he set a school record in receptions (106), yards (1,635), while also hauling in 17 receiving touchdowns. Janis led all of Division II in receiving yards and was second in receptions. He also caught a school-record 18 balls against Michigan Tech and had another school record in receiving yards in a game with 300 against Lake Erie.
So far in the first two games Janis has 6 receptions...181 yards & TD...+ a 14 yard TD run...
