i'm not much of a baseball guy, but i watch the Cardinals quite a bit with friends and family. why is it that Eckstein gets almost nothing but back-handed compliments about his ability to play the game.
from what i can see, the guy is just a heck of a baseball player, doing whatever he can to help his team win. but every time someone talks about him, the discourse begins with "he's not very talented but..." WTF!?! they say he's too slow, too short, too weak, too white (no, that is just implied), etc. but say nothing about how the guy is too blasted good to keep off the field. he must have SOME talent. what gives?
i watched him for about a month before i realized his first name was David not He'snotverytalented Eckstein. jeez!
