McKinnie, Smoot fined by NFL for boat party

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The NFL fined Minnesota Vikings Bryant McKinnie and Fred Smoot for their participation in the boat party scandal last October.
The fine was first reported by FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer on Friday night.
McKinnie, a left tackle, and Smoot, a cornerback, both pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct in May and were ordered by the court to pay $1,000 in fines and do community service. They are the only current Vikings to plead guilty to any wrongdoing stemming from the cruise on Lake Minnetonka.
The NFL confirmed Saturday that it has fined each player one game check, which is about $41,000 for McKinnie and $82,000 for Smoot.
The fines should bring to a close an embarrassing chapter in Vikings history. Four players were charged in a case that garnered national media attention with tales of debauchery and indecency.
Moe Williams was convicted of disorderly conduct and is no longer with the team. Charges against quarterback Daunte Culpepper were dropped, and he was traded to Miami in the offseason.
Under the collective bargaining agreement, the Vikings cannot impose further punishment on Smoot and McKinnie after the league has levied discipline.
