Well I guess Indians haven't been paid enough yet so Eric Holder and Obama have settled a class action law suit and agreed to pay reparations to Indians to the tune of several billions of dollars. How long before white people will also be paying blacks for slave reparations? Not long is my guess.

From reading several articles, what I gather is that the Indians filed a suit because the U.S. governement leased land from them and they dissatified after a century of payments in how they were paid. Part of the claim was that Indians don't understand land ownership etc. Another part is that the payments were divided up equally among all Indian decendents and not in a lump sum to a special few.

Indians have been granted rights from scribbled on peices of paper from non-government officials over a century ago and we still have to pay! I know in Minnesota they broke their original treaty and slaughter 1,000 of unarmed Minnesotan settlers. I say they should either be American and treated like every other American should be, or we confine them to reservations again and treat them like a hostile foreign nation. They can choose whether they want to American or Indian.

One little, two liittle, three little billion

What the article does not tell you is that the government is going to buy the Indian land then give it right back to the Indian tribe as one big piece instead of thousands of little divided individually owned pieces as it priviously was. The article makes it sound like our government is buying the land to keep, which it is not. Like the black farmers lawsuits, the Indians will be suing again down the road to collect more money. This money grab is not over, you can count on that.

"...They can choose whether they want to American or Indian..."

Being both at once is too sweet of a deal. They'll never give it up. Just saw the movie 'Frozen River'. I don't know if the intention was to show the poor pitiful Indians but if so it was a big misfire.

The Mohawk Reservation in upstate New York extends into Canada. Which makes it a perfect spot for smuggling anything you can imagine. Indians can't be arrested on the Rez so they have a sanctuary in both countries. Most Americans do not realize this. There are 536 Federally recognized tribes and short of murder cases they can, at their discretion, claim exclusive control over criminal cases.

Casinos, free health care, free education, affirmative action, SBA loans, minority set aside contracts, favorable tax treatment...

Of the 3 million 'Indians' and Inuits in America 8 out of 10 are mixed race. (The Wounded Knee/AIM incident was a power struggle between mixed race and full blooded Indians.) Federally recognized tribes (there are many tribes without this status, some are recognized by individual states, one of the murderers of Michael Jordan's father belonged to a non-recognized tribe) have total control over who is and who is not a member. In effect any person on earth can be an Indian, complete with Bureau of Indian Affairs health insurance card, if a tribe makes it so.

I was watching TMZ. The heavyset black girl claims she has an Indian Health Insurance card since she's part Indian. Which makes perfect sense, this being America.

Something just occurred to me, and that was the whole Indian thing in Boy Scouts. I know it's a part of American history and interesting enough, but real Indians were something less than noble. They were an intractable and barbaric enemy. So let's do beadwork in their honor.

Does any other culture so honor a conquered people? Russians don't make folk heroes out of Mongols, instead they recount the exploits of Cossacks who fought the Mongols and Tatars. South African whites don't dress up as Zulus and dance around like imbeciles. I mean, it's truly weird to require white children to mimic Indians. Why not go the whole route and encourage alcoholism and obesity? Authenticity is important.

A do over would be nice. Several do overs really. No African slaves. Ship all the surviving Indians to post-1848 Mexico. Go back in time and drown a young and not-so-honest Abe.

I know quite a few Indian guys from upstate NY and they don't have anything to do with this type of baloney. They were working guys their whole lives. It's the young guys who are getting involved in this garbage. It used to be the Indian guys were 80%+ Ironworkers. Now they get lured into the criminal aspects of life and not so many young Indian guys are Ironworking anymore. Too Bad...

As Charlie so eloquently stated, the biggest do over without question would be " No African slaves" this would solve alot of America's social problems and handouts to people who never seem to get their pathetic act together!
