YouTube "Steffes" he's got highlights from his game against Minnesota, and also some against Southern Utah. He's got great power, agility, and vision. On one cutback move, he just embarrasses a guy.

Yeah he has some good moves, but he will have to have luck and fate on his side to make the Jets team, to say he has an up hill battle is an understatement.

Chad Brinker, Josh Davis and Sean Bennett all signed with the Jets in recent years as free agents. Brinker was a star tailback at Ohio University, Davis was a 4.4 speedster who split carries at tailback his senior year at Nebraska, and Bennett was the extremely rare white running back who was actually drafted and given a chance to start (one game for the Giants before injuries and the Caste System knocked him down, see the CF Running Back archives in the NFL section for more on Bennett).

The Jets cut all of them without giving any a chance in a regular season game, so Steffes does have his work cut out for him.

and that's not mentioning last season, when they cut Brown's Nick Hartigan without giving him a shot.

I recall Pat Chafee being the 3rd string tailback in the mid 90's. Beyond that the cupboard has been bare...

Oh, he could work really hard and be a special teams demon. Why do they take white running backs just to cut them or keep them on the practice squad? Is it so coaches can tell their white players to look up to them? Do they generate more ratings by doing that?
