Is anyone embarrassed to be a USA fan?

Don't get me wrong. I love my country. But the US National Team of today is not the same as it was 10 years ago. They don't represent me. I used to love the teams of John Harkes, Reyna, Wynalda, Keller, etc. Always the underdog in the World Cup with guys who would fight hard. Now most of the team has degenerated into a bunch of brainless African mercenaries. It sickens me to watch this happening because not only is it embarrassing internationally, the team gets worse the more Africans they try to add.<div>
</div><div>Look what happened at the World Cup. All the mostly white nations with mostly white/latino players killed everyone. 2010 Champions Spain = all white/latin. 2006 Italy = all white/latin. All the African nations went home early as usual. Why? It's because soccer is game that requires a high level of intelligence and the ability to improvise and think quickly on your feet. There's no stoppages every 4 minutes that caters to the dumb american black athlete while the white coach has to draw up a play. The thinking is all done by the players within split seconds. That's why the low IQ African nations never do well. They just don't have the intelligence for the sport (the average IQ for sub-saharan Africa is 70). And that's why the best players in the world right now are white or latino - Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Ronaldo, Kaka, Sneijder, Bale, etc. </div><div>
</div><div>I tried to have a discussion about this on uber politically correct Bigsoccer and I ended up getting banned. It's like nobody has the common sense to realize the more African players we have, the worse our team gets. </div><div>
</div><div>Let's look at all the overhyped black athletes US Soccer has tried to shove down our throats in past few years.</div><div>
</div><div>Freddy Adu - laughing stock of the world. Playing in the Turkish 2nd division after bouncing around with 6 different clubs. People actually compared him to Messi when he was 18...LOL.</div><div>
</div><div>Eddie Johnson - laughing stock. Complete slap in the face to all those idiots who say "What if our best NBA or NFL players played soccer". One of the fastest "athletes" we have yet doesn't have the brains or skill to dribble out of a paper bag.</div><div>
</div><div>Jozy Altidore = Completely overhyped from day 1. Now struggling in the Turkish league.</div><div>
</div><div>Robbie Findley - Forward called up to the US squad for the World Cup. Has yet to score a single goal for the USMNT. Cannot finish to save his life.</div><div>
</div><div>Ricardo Clark - Moved to the Bundesliga last year. Rarely plays for his team now. Cost the US in the World Cup against Ghana when he turned the ball over in crucial areas</div><div>
</div><div>Oguchi Onyewu - Screws up every time I see play. Terribly over hyped defender. Cost the US the 2006 World Cup with his reckless challenge against Ghana.</div><div>
</div><div>Marvell Wynne - Completely clueless defender. Always out of position. Cost the US multiple games during World Cup Qualifying with bonehead defending. Another great "athlete" that can't dribble and has no tactical awareness.</div><div>
</div><div>Gale Agbossoumonde (what a f**king ridiculous name) - People are obsessed with this guy over on Bigsoccer. Recently, this guy singlehandedly cost the US a birth in the 2011 U-20 World Cup, something the US has qualified for the past 7 consecutive times. He makes completely bonehead tackles and has poor mental ability. I can't believe this guy made it so far through the US system.</div><div>
</div><div>Coincidentally the best US players over the past few years are all white/latino - Donovan, Dempsey, Holden, Cherundolo, Reyna, McBride, etc.</div><div>
</div><div>I hate to see our national team becoming the next France but that appears to be happening. I guess I need to find a new national team to root for.</div>

As I recall, the 2010 team was 7 whites and 4 blacks (starters at least). I was kind of neutral about them and cheered for the U.S. team against GHana and England and against them when they played Slovenia.

How are they now? Are they getting blacker?

I root for Italy first, US second, even though I am only half Italian, I definitely identify more with Italy and have pulled for them my whole life, and have watched Serie A for years(always been a SS Lazio fan and have been to a game when I was in Italy). My mom is English and Lebanese(Christian), I would root for England, but they have the same problems America does and Lebanon will never do sh*t in any sport. I got a lot of sh*t from my friends when I didn't jump on the USA bandwagon like everyone else last time around, especially since Italy didn't make it out of group, but I support Italy through and through even when they are bad. I will never forget 2006 and how big of a deal it was for me and my family, made me proud to be Italian, and to be White.

I was so happy when all-white squads from Italy and Spain won in 2006 and 2010.

I could never be proud of an all or mostly black U.S. team winning anything and, in fact, would be very disappointed.

Today, while I was watching some of the women's Mexico/USA match, there was a commercial, for "All State" insurance, and Tim Howard was in it....

Predictable that they would "market" this Vin Diesel-lookalike, but acting like he's some "super-protector" at goalie? Really? From what I saw of the Spain/USA "highlights".. he was awful!

I just saw the commercial right now again. He's saying, "I'm cool under pressure" and that he's thinking about buying a motorcycle. At the end of the commercial, the slogan under the All State advertisement is "Protection is our Game."

If that's the case, I don't want to be "insured" by All State then!!!

Generally speaking, yes.
Although the best players and identified team leaders are all White, USA Soccer is afflicted with the Caste Bug like most US athletic orgs.
Why? Well, we have this site to explain the many reasons and variables, but the bottom line (imho) is that officials and coaches feel that it is imperative to recruit and push 'athletes' to compete with more technical sides.
Of course, if you think about this from a purely tactical stand point it is doomed to failure. It has been proven 8 times out of 10 that the more technical and skillful team will win at top level football.
In addition, you are only magnifying the other team's advantage and multiplying it...
Skill and technique (along with proper tactics) triumphs over hard runners and bigger players easy.

Now of course part of the problem is this thinking by US soccer that black players are more athletic in the first place.
US dolts love that fast twitch muscle stuff and that blacks tend to mature faster so a 15 y.o. prospect that looks good running and in basic drills with a bit of size makes the coaches and US officials drool with delight..

Frankly, not that much different then most sports.
Plus the fact that soccer is relatively a cheap game to play so they think the inner city kids will gravitate to playing.
Yes, this is not true either as soccer in the US is still predominately played by suburban middle class kids and not the ghettos.

There are other reasons as well, but basically it comes down to Caste thinking and totally false pretenses that blacks are faster and more athletic from top to bottom.
100% false we know.
Are there some capable black players out there? Yes, a few. Often many fizzle out as they mature, especially when facing adversity and better players who are just as athletic as them...they see this first hand when they play European and South American teams. This does something to their psyche.

There whole lives they were told they are the best athlete on the field..then they go up against better athletes with triple the skill set.
This stunts growth.
See Eddie Johnson as an example.

White players are not provided the fair respect to their athletic skills as many of you know. The good thing for many of the White players is that they are used to facing adversity and learning quickly.
They face this all the time in the grind of pro league football, especially in Europe.
they soak up the knowledge and become better players.

Most American black players who go to Europe become worse players. It is both mental and physical. The grind and facing tougher competition is what does many of them in.

Almost all Whites who go to Europe amplify their skill set and become tougher mentally and physically.
The opposite happens to black soccer players.

The next push for USA soccer will be to find the many hispanic youth who grow up playing. This will be both good and bad for obvious reasons.

Hell, I'm not even American and I was embarrassed as the U.S. started 6 blacks in that 0-4 home pasting by Spain. The result was hardly a surprise, especially as the U.S. conceded three goals in the first half before four of the blacks were replaced at half time.

It's a shame that the U.S. is wasting it's quite considerable potential by employing the usual "blacks first" policies...

I tuned it to see the U.S. v. Spain friendly and saw 4-5 blacks on the field for the U.S. I'm used to being embarrased about the U.S. squad and cheering for European or white South American sides against "our" boys, however.

Glad to see that all-white Spain handled these caste clowns.

There was a disgusting article in The USA Today newspaper where former coach Bruce Arena ( Jewish ) said USA soccer needed the African American athlete. Gee yes because some might run slightly faster sprint times than non blacks which really has nothing to do with soccer. What does speed have to do with trapping, passing and shooting ability? People are so brainwashed to think adding the black athlete to a sport makes it better. I usually am pro american when I root in international soccer games but Im starting to go the all white team route as I do now in basketball.

Case in point is Theo Walcott, who is very fast, but not that skillfull. He keeps getting picked by Capello, although Adam Johnson is much more skilled. If Walcott was not fast, he would be lucky to place in the 3rd division with his skill.Barton should get another chance with the English side.

Would the US, or even England, pick guys like Iniesta, Xavi or Messi? They would say too small and not fast enough. so we better stick with Bent and Walcott. Landan is lucky he is fast or the US would have ignored him.

Interesting. Has the greatest American goalie, Brad Friedel, and some say the greatest American soccer player of all time, ever been in a commercial like that? What about Casey keller?

Currently watching the US-Canada Gold Cup match and interestingly the US seems whiter than Canada. They're playing 7 whites, with Howard, the 2 strikers, and I think a midfielder being the only blacks. Correct me if I'm wrong, because I don't know all the ins and outs of US soccer, but this ratio doesn't seem too low considering countries like England, France, and now Canada field darker teams despite having way less blacks in their countries. I'm sure there are better prospects at striker, but I can't argue with Howard starting, he's clearly the top US keeper with Friedel retired from international play. So I disagree with the original poster. I have no problem supporting the national team as long as the ratio stays around the same and whites like Dempsey and Donavan continue to be the top stars.

I'm not embarrased to be a USA fan right now. We're going to finish the match with 9 whites and 2 blacks on the pitch. It's a lot better than what England, France, and Holland are putting out right now. It's better than our World Cup team right now. I hope Chris Wondolowski can start over "American" Juan Agudelo in the future. Well, I know Canada's no where near Spain's level, but look what happens if you put more whites into the lineup.Edited by: Jack Lambert

Altidore just scored a goal for the US against Guadeloupe*. In fairness to him it was a good goal but he immediately pointed to his name on the back of his jersey.

I just hope the Fox commentators don't get carried away now that Altidore has finally done something useful for the US team.

* I noticed none of the Guadeloupe players moved their lips during the French national anthem.
