I was just watching that video, in which LeMaitre makes a brief cameo at best, and it occurs to me that LeMaitre may very well crack 10 at some piddling local meet that isn't even filmed. He's so good that he doesn't need competition to spur him on. But the we'll be denied our chance of seeing the history making run on Sportscenter. Man, wouldn't that be ironic?

What amazes me too is that he just ran a 10.09 out of lane 9! To run on the inside or the outside of the track is a very difficult thing to do. It is rare that a guy wins from these lanes. The good lanes are 3,4,5 and 6. Granted the competition was mediocre but still that is impressive. It's very hard to get a good start on the edge of the track and also to guage where everyone is at.

We need a better video but you can tell he was scorching down the track! Like Mastermuliti said and I've said before, the sooner he goes sub 10 the better. Put the psychological stuff to bed and then he can just concentrate on winning medals.

Lemaitre is built very different than Shirvo. Shirvo was a straight out of the blocks power guy, Lemaitre has that rare acceleration past 50 meters. Lemaitre is very special and the world will see how much very soon.
Yes Shirvington had a 100 meter specialists build. Lemaitre has more of speed endurance build. I don't think he will ever be really bulky. At the moment he has more of build of 400 or even 800 meter runner.
Bulking shouldn't be the issue for Lemaitre, it must be strength, technique and conditioning. He's got some of that build and grace that makes Bolt phenomenal. If Lemaitre can improve the things I've mentioned, he'll become a sprinting phenom for many years to come.

Lemaitre ran 10.24 this wkend into a -2.2 wind.
I think that converts to another 10.0x.
This guy might break 10 flat any day now.
But I would rather he do it at a big, invitational meet where lots of people see him, and he wins the race against some big name sprinters.

That's a great time into a wind like that. Someone had better start following him with a camera. If he ever gets a chance to run on a warm day without a headwind, that barrier is done.

The sprinter won the 100 Aix m 10 "24, despite a strong headwind (-2.2 m / s), cold and moisture. An output at least as convincing as its 10" 09 the previous week . The evidence is now required: it will run under ten seconds this season.

Wrapped in his tracksuit, head largely hidden under a hood, it looked like a rapper lost in nature. Although it was primarily to protect themselves from the cold that prevailed yesterday in Venissieux.

However, Christophe Lemaitre did not hide his happiness in this Sunday Interclub, his favorite event. His relaxed even impressed, barely ten minutes before the start of his 100m semi-final preferred to lap, where he had inherited a corridor inside too. We saw the sprinter and Aix-les-Bains and Renaud Lavillenie kindly to room temperature after the world medalist in the pole had successfully completed his 110-meter hurdles.

Carraz impressed
Then a warm minimalist Lemaitre effected before settling into the starting blocks, lane 1, the farthest from the rostrum. Its actuation was good and it does not relax its efforts until the line, despite the absence of any competition. Finally, a 10 "24 of the most convincing in view of the temperature (below 15 degrees), humidity and wind negative (- 2.2 m / s).

A time which confirms its 10 "09 1 May at Aix-les-Bains (+1 m / s). In fact, at the first opportunity where it will be pushed into a corner by its opponents, with mild weather, the Savoyard run under ten seconds.

However, Christopher confessed "a little disappointed," a few minutes after his straight line. "I have not been helped by the conditions." But Peter Carraz, his coach, quickly put a positive note for the day: "He impressed me more than Aix (May 1, ed) his way to run, with the worst conditions for a sprinter. He went out of fast starts and strong. "

"It's frustrating"
Lemaitre was trying to turn to see the good side of his output. "Technically, it was not bad. I was well placed. I had a good activated and I restored the pace towards the end of the race. I have nothing to reproach myself, I'm about right path. So, yes, it's reasonable to show happy, but when the race conditions prevent me from doing what I want, it's frustrating. "

ITS PROGRAM
Lemaitre will match 100 or 200 m at the final Interclub May 23 Then he will attend the meeting in Marseille on June 5, Step Diamond League in Rome on June 10 and then to the European Team Championships in Bergen on June 19

So May 23rd is going to be an exciting day in track. Pickering opens up his season over 200 meters and will run a 100 race 3 days later.

Lemaitre will hopefully smash the 10 second barrier. He needs some good weather and hopefully some competition. Again as I've said before, I can't wait for it to happen. I want him to get to the point where he is running flat and sub 10's on a regular basis. This is the first step in chasing medals in the future.

As Jimmy Chitwood said, he does look like sprinting is effortless for him. The best sprinters just make is look so easy despite it being one of the hardest things on the body of any athletic feat. It just kills your body to run that fast and it takes a while to recover.

May 23rd is circled on my calender. Let's hope for the best. I have a feeling that it will happen then. It is destiny i.m.o. He is too talented to be denied.

Here's a fun video. LeMaitre running the second leg of a 4 x 100 at one of these piddling local meets in France. Sort of reminds us of the difference between world class and club class. He gives his team such a huge lead that I could have run the anchor leg and still won.

I would like to see how well he does in the 200. I think his outdoor best is 20.6, he should have no problem running 20.1 or less

fun video Trackster, thanks. I forwarded it to my old sprints/relay coach.
Yep,the difference between keen club sprinters and the elite is monstrous.

He covers so much ground we only see him for 9 seconds. And the guy's leg movements are so co-ordinated and powerful for someone who walks a bit strangely (anyone else noticed that?).
Maybe walking is just too slow for him LOL

At my age and level of decrepitude I think I have about as good a stride as the 1st leg runner outside Lemaitre's team, the guy with the bandage... Sighhh!Edited by: mastermulti

Damn, that's the 1st time I've seen him run, that dude is a beast. He just smoked his competition so bad it was like they were running in slow motion.

Christophe Lemaitre: "Sub 10 seconds, not a goal but a cape" | Réagir | Comment 17.05.2010, 18h19 17/05/2010, 6:19 p.m. Christophe Lemaitre, the French hope may become the first white sprinter in history to run the 100m under 10 seconds, said at the Stade de France it does not have the time "an objective but a cape cross. Lemaitre. "Go under the 10 seconds is not necessarily a goal, but one more course to take to enter among the best worldwide," said Lemaitre. (10. "Given what I did on my back then Vénissieux 24 May 9th) with wind (2.2m / s), I can claim to under 10 seconds, "Lemaitre said that the next 100 m would be held Sunday at the second round of the Interclub, Franconville (Val d'Oise).

Beating Bolt and winning Gold should be Lemaitre's main goals and possibly breaking the WR 100 time, but I'm not sure a clean athlete will ever beat Bolt's time since roiders weren't even close.

What a meet that will be in Paris. Lemaitre against Bolt and Powell. If he can even stay withing 2-4 meters, he should be pulled to a sub 10. I cannot wait to watch this!Edited by: white lightning

hmmm...10 metres is a long way back. That's put him about .85 of a second back.

Certainly if it's a really fast race (9.60s) and he can finish about, say, four metres away he will break 10.

Good observation mastermulti. He needs to stay close to the front of the pack. If it's a slower race, he needs to stay at the very front. I just want him to get it over with this Sunday. I'm so tired of waiting. I would rather have the pressure be off him when he gets to those bigger meets and the euro champs as he would be more relaxed. Run for the wins and the times will follow just like he did indoors!

Here is another video from him just a little over a week ago running into a huge negative wind with no competition. The kid is primed and ready to go sub 10!
