ESPN will air a new 30 for 30 documentary called 'I Hate Christian Laettner," on Sunday after the NCAA BB tournament selection show.

I don't know how many here are old enough to remember Laettner, but he was one if not the most successful college players of all time, going to 4 final fours and winning 2 championships. I'm not sure exactly his won/loss percentage while at Duke, but it ranks up there with some of the UCLA players. Maybe someone can research that. Anyway, I encourage anyone who's not familiar with Laettner and if you are, to watch.

Thanks CS! I've seen these previews on ESPN the last week or so, and I'll definitely be tuning in to watch it. I'm interested to see how it compares to ESPN's portrayal of Michigan's Fab Five that they had a couple of years ago.

Yes JL, and I believe Jalen Rose will be in the documentary as well.

As I said in my first post, Laettner had one of the most if not most successful college careers ever. Some of his accomplishments...

A career record at Duke of 123-25, almost an average of 31 wins a season, 83% winning percentage!
    1992 NCAA POY.

    2 NCAA Championships.
    4 Final Fours
1 of only 4 players to play in 4 straight final fours.
Only player ever to start in 4 straight final fours.

Most NCAA Tournament games played, 23 out of the maximum 24.

    Most NCAA Tournament points, 407.
    Most FT ATT. 167.
    Most FT. made 142, 85%.

Laettner will always be remembered for "The Shot," the buzzer beater in OT to beat Kentucky in the regional finals in 1992 which paved the way for Duke to repeat as national champions. That was one of the two best college basketball games I've ever seen, along with Villanova's upset of Georgetown in the '85 championship game. If my memory's right, Laettner was perfect from both the floor and the free throw line in that game. Here's the shot:

BSPN is being BSPN, the mere title of the program "I hate Christian Laettner" keeps with the foul agenda of BSPN. What is there to hate? An elite player who dominated and did not take sh*t from affelets, nor commit crimes on campus or off. Yeah, great title in "keeping it real." BS.

Right Westside, as with the fab five documentary, the Michigan players will be allowed to say they hate white players and what they represented and get away with it. They will also say that all of Duke's players came from privileged white collar families which is a lie! Laettner, Hurley, Thomas Hill, etc. all came from middle-class blue collar up bringing's.

The truth is they, the fab five really wanted to go to Duke, but didn't have what it took, with exception of maybe Chris Webber.

Good posts, Gentlemen! Agree about BSPN furthering their pro-caste/anti-White agenda, starting with the naming of the program. I watched that game live on my grandparents' old black and white TV during spring break that year. I wasn't even really into basketball but that game was awesome and the shot was just unreal!

From the advertisements I’ve seen for this “30 for 30†documentary, Laettner is portrayed as a talented “tough guy†and “bad boy†who was universally-despised by black NCAA athletes of the time. It shows him stomping on a black player, violently dunking the ball, hitting clutch shots, etc.

Laettner himself was interviewed for the program and still seems to have a take-no-prisoners attitude. I was under 5 years old during Duke’s run with Laettner, so I’d like to see the film…

Seems like a good guy with a hot wife and good-looking family...

"The shot" was actually one of my very first basketball memories. I remember my cousins going nuts. I didnt understand why a bunch of TX boys were rooting for Duke so hard. Now, of course, I get it. They were pulling for big Christian!

I watched a fair amount of it and it was about as expected. Laettner was an all-time great college hoopster. The show of course never delved into the real reasons for the irrational hatred of Christian -- he was not just White playing for a Whitish, successful basketball program, but a very good looking White guy with a tremendous amount of inner confidence that he always backed up. That's infuriating to most White people, who are filled with self-loathing and anger at their own status in life and love to tear down other Whites. Other than when he stomped on a black Kentucky player in the '92 semis there was no footage of Laettner being a super hard-ass on the floor, rather he played the game hard but fair with a burning desire to win. Isn't that what we're supposed to expect of great athletes?

Laettner hasn’t played college basketball for nearly 25 years, but the psychosomatic wounds he left upon the collective cognizance of the DWF’s still seems to linger…

Young and old, male or female, rich or poor, liberal or conservative, “whites hating whitesâ€￾ has been the cowardly white rabble’s mechanical reaction to being utterly barred by The System from criticizing non-whites, Jews, women, homosexuals, transsexuals, Marxists, Washington, Hollywood, Wall St, etc.

Those imbecilic, immature t-shirts might as well read: “I still hate myself.â€￾

An outdoors newspaper here in Illinois had an article about him just lately. It seems he took up Muskie fishing when he was playing in some northern city and he became a fanatic so he put together an organization to support muskies and all that.

I actually thought the program was pretty good. I liked how it talked about Laettner's blue-collar background to dispel the myth that he was always pampered to his entire life, and they also talked about Bobby Hurley's tough upbringing a fair bit as well. As a guy who didn't know too much about Laettner besides being a superstar at Duke and "The Shot", it was a very informative and good program. I liked the part about how he liked to pester Bobby Hurley and Grant Hill in an attempt to make his team better and tougher.

I started following Duke basketball shortly before Laettner's arrival. Danny Ferry was their white star at the time. Laettner was a great freshman and got better every succeeding season; as the 30/30 acknowledged, he is undeniably one of the 10 greatest college basketball players of all time.

I never personally knew anyone who hated Duke or Laettner. It was a revelation years later reading that Laettner was really despised beyond the normal level of enmity DWFs hold for outstanding opponents. Black opponents and black fans hating Laettner, I understand. Outside ACC rivals (North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, et al), it does seem odd that any white would hate Laettner with such zeal.

Part of what explains it was touched on in the documentary: The "white" commenters (somebody Rosenberg and Ariel something) said they thought black style and black music were "cool," and therefore were not predisposed to rooting for a white program or it's white star(s). They were into rap or hip-hop or whatever you call that absolute ****. White renegades at best. The other unhinged white commenter is a North Carolina devotee, although apparently to an unfortunate degree.

I never understood these kinds of white males. Blacks were never representative of "cool" or "hip" to me. As an alum of integrated schools in the South, I had daily experience with blacks. Cool, no; offensively stupid and impulsive, yes. Their music was garbage then, in the 70s-early80s (I was born in the mid-60s; I was a middle & high schooler just prior to rap), and would yet become even more stupid and less "musical" as disco & soul gave way to rap. There was nothing about negroes to admire, much less imitate.

The one slightly disappointing thing I learned from the documentary is that Laettner himself liked rap and quoted rap lyrics. But, whatever. He was just a basketball player whose game was enjoyable to watch.

The other perplexing theme in the 30/30 was the unchallenged notion that it is righteous to hate (really, to envy) affluent Duke students. WTF? Despise an individual who behaves badly, sure. But why is it ok to hate en masse people whose parents are well-off enough to pay Duke tuition?

Is a viewer supposed to say "I hated Laettner then because I thought he was a rich, 'entitled' boy. Now that I see he was from a working class background I don't hate him..."?

Why is it okay to hate successful professionals and their children? The documentary should have at least included an authority to address the class envy/hatred sickness that is evident throughout. Instead, the filmmaker gave airtime to black demagogic white-hater Michael Eric Dyson.

A different filmmaker could have done a much better bio piece on Christian Laettner. Laettner had a career that was worthy of a 30/30 special. Now that potentially good film will not be made and aired because this cultural turd has preemptively filled that Laettner niche.

Laettner was one of the best to ever play college hoops. Although I grew up an UGA fan, I also pulled for Duke hoops. I went to basketball camp there in the mid 80s & met Coach K, Mark Allerie & Jay Bilas. I pulled for Duke afterwards. :)

I had a good friend (DWF) who despised Duke & pulled for Michigan (as his "secondary" team..after UGA). I remember going back & forth with the trash talking (circa early 90s). Like most DWFs, he absolutely hated the Duke championships...whereas I loved it (even "pre-caste awakening" ;-).

Just finished watching the special on him on Youtube. I have to admit it was a well produced piece on Christian. But...I hated the hate on him from the Jew influenced retards(surprise) who gave incoherent Amerikan reasons to hate an elite White player. Man, at times I was reveling in his success and the other times I was hating the jews, DWFs and negroes trying to take him down, only because he was a good looking, not take sh*tting white athlete. I posted on the Youtube thread that the Jew analysts condemned him for being aggressive, elite player, yet would give head to a negro who do the same.

Glad that Christian is at peace with himself and has a great looking family. Not broke or strung out on drugs or booze.

It's been said on the forums before. DWFs can't wrap their tiny minds around the idea of a superior White athlete that completely dominates their negro idols. Case in point, the most hated college basketball players off all time bracket that was made famous a few years ago. The field of 64 was made up of half white players like (Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Craft?!), the Elite Eight featured almost all Whites, the Final Four had 3 whites plus Rick Fox (white mother). That's all the proof u need. DWFs don't like White players, especially aggressive, confident Whites. They just can not wrap their tiny brains around them thus they hate them.

Here is a pertinent screen shot (listing the “reasons†for him being despised) from the EPSN “30 for 30†special, “I Hate Christian Laettnerâ€...

    Untitled.jpg

“White,†huh? At least they’re being honest. As we already well know, simply being a white man is a perfectly suitable reason for millions of people (also white) to mindlessly hate a famous person.

As for “privilege,†what are they referring to? Christian didn’t come from a wealthy family whatsoever. He grew up in a rural area of Western NY to Polish parents. His father, George, worked as a printer and his mother, Bonnie, worked as a teacher.

I noticed that one of the primary Laettner-loathing “commentators†for the special was short, obese, obnoxious, ugly, bald, nebbish, Jewish Wigger (jwigger?) named “Peter Rosenberg.†Rosenberg is a NY-based hip-hop radio DJ who made some mind-numbing rap song about his hatred for Duke basketball. From Rosenberg’s Wiki article…

A Jew who loves rap, loves basketball, imitates Negroes, hates whites, and lives in NYC…in other words, the complete and utter antithesis of a real man, a white man. Here is this genetically-challenged fellow posing with some friends…

Lol, Peter Rosenberg is a collegiate contemporary of mine. Whereas I was content to challenge my body to many continuous beer-drinking contests, a couple of my College Park-based friends tried a few of the more exotic chemicals on the weekends. They met Peter Rosenberg, some unremarkable nebbish jew who clung to them and others so he could "get with the scene."

It must be 5+ years now that he's been a morning "host" on the black music FM radio station in NYC!

Short story: my two white friends and Peter Rosenberg have some live cassette tapes of recording practice where he definitely says the "hard N-word" many times as they help him gain his gusto. If these were ever "discovered", he'd be done professionally as a jew wigger... but they won't be discovered, because no jew gossip site would ever set the precedent of buying them. Maybe if he turns gay and bottoms (in homosexual terms) to an NBA athlete, then supply might meet demand. Until then...

On the Steve Sailer site at unz.com there is some discussion of "Why White Fans Hate White Basketball Players", an article in BSPN magazine a couple of weeks ago. Some good comments.

    A theory about Aaron Craft
Why the Buckeyes point guard is always the most hated player on the court

“AARON CRAFT AND I have a date tonight,â€￾ Michigan senior Alex Lipnik tells me, some three hours before his Wolverines will face the hated Buckeyes. … Lipnik, a communications major, has stood outside for nearly nine hours in temps in the low teens with the lone goal of telling the Ohio State junior guard exactly how he feels.

“You suck,â€￾ Lipnik yells during pregame warmups. “I hate you. You’re terrible at basketball. You shouldn’t even be out on the floor. You should be paying us to watch you.â€￾
Craft ignores the taunts. He dribbles to the other end of the court, also packed with testosterone-laced Michigan fans, to shoot jumpers.

    “This isn’t JV, Craft.â€￾
“Go home! You’re too small to play this game.â€￾
“You suck, Craft. And I’m not just saying that to be mean. You actually do suck.â€￾

For Craft, it’s just another night on the road in the Big Ten as one of the country’s most polarizing players. “They hate me,â€￾ he admits.

What has he done to deserve this? Why have students like Lipnik counted the days (353, to be exact) until Craft returned to Crisler? Because he’s a pest. Because his physical, in-your-face defense can fluster anyone, even Michigan’s Player of the Year candidate, Trey Burke. And because of something else — something difficult to pin down.
Twenty-four hours earlier, in a meeting room in the heart of Michigan’s campus, some 65 members of the Maize Rage, the UM student section, are squirming in their seats.
They are there to organize outfits and cheers, taunts and jeers. All agree Craft certainly will be a target. But then the group is asked to vote, by a show of hands, if they would feel differently about Craft if he weren’t white. The students pause. Deliberate. A few hands gradually pop up. And then a few more. When it’s clear that it’s socially acceptable to do so, nearly half the students in the room — a room where everyone, coincidentally, is white — raise their hands.

FROM THE REACTION, it’s obvious that most of these fans weren’t really aware they enjoy insulting a white player partly because he’s white. It’s easier to believe they hate him just because, and to keep tricky racial biases relegated to the subconscious.
Lipnik, though, is more open about his predilections than most. “I’m thrilled you said that,â€￾ Lipnik says when asked about the role Craft’s skin color plays in his long-brewing animosity. “I didn’t want to be the racist guy who calls out the white thing. But that’s exactly one of the main reasons I hate him. He’s that rural white guy who thinks he’s hard-nosed, the my-dad-taught-me-how-to-play-defense, I-can’t-score-the-basketball-if-you-paid-me guy. And everyone hates those guys. They’re just … just annoying.â€￾

It's disappointing to see what should be a more aware comment section filled with people who have bought into the narrative: blue collar, gritty, lunch pails, etc ... Those people NEED this site, and badly.
