I have just started reading about this topic and thought it may interest some of you here. Here is my take (it is not too complicated):

In the last decade research has shown that "our genes are not our destiny" and that additional layers of complexity exist in our genome that can control the way our genes actually perform. Called the epigenome this "computer code" acts like a conductor for our genes that switches certain functions on and off. What is most interesting is that it seems lifestyle, such as diet, exercise, and even thinking patterns affects the behaviour of the epigenome. This helps explain why identical twins are different and why a cultural group's "lifestyle" (Race?) can have consequences for intelligence and health. The biggest surprise is that one's epigenome is heritable and can affect one's children and grand-children. Wow.

Scientists and the reporting media will deny the cultural connection because of "ethical implications". They will focus onthe benefits of the research with respect to health such as cancers, auto-immune diseases, and mental diseases.

Any thoughts?
