Man, it really sucks for the rest of the world that the Soviet Union broke up. All those awesome wrestlers used to have to compete for one team, now they are sucking up all the medals as individual countries. This occurred to me tonight watching some of the big boys wrestle, it all seemed like Russia and some central Asian republic, with an occasional Cuban, American, or German thrown in.

Counting men only in the comp so far, Russia is leading the wrestling medal count with 7. Only one other country even has three, and that is Ukraine!

All the former non-Russian Soviet states combined have earned 17 more medals.

So out of the 43 awarded, ex-Soviet countries have gobbled up 24 of them, well over half!

That is dominance.

Those Russians and their crony Caucasion Asians are some bad dudes. They pretty much dominate the power combat sports.

Wrestling: Russia 10, former Soviets 25. REST OF WORLD 20, led by Bulgaria's 3. Wow.

Judo: Former Soviet states picked up 8 total medals, Korea second with 3.

Former Soviets also leading boxing, but only bronze's in so far.

Also, Weightlifting: Russia 4, former Soviets 6. China second with 5.

Not to mention their domination of MMA and pro-boxing.

A smart NFL scout should look to the ex-Soviets for some real power and speed players. If they played football, the NFL would get real white real fast. They would probably take to football real well with their preference for and aptitude at violent sports.
