Four of the tenwho madethe poll are white in a league where some 90 percent or more of PR hype and commercial endorsements go to blacks. But it's a "players poll," so the disproportionate appearance of white players shows black resentment of the few whites who get mentioned in the same breath as all the blacks stars.

Dwight Freeney should be on the overrated list. His stats are horrible. Aaron Kampman of the Packers is having a great year, he rarely gets any credit.

Many of the black offensive linemen with big reputations belong on any overrated list. Perfect example from tonight's game -- Bryant McKinnie of the Vikings. Offensive guard Steve Hutchinson was lured to Minnesota from Seattle during the offseason by way of receiving a 7-year $49 million contract. That free agent deal received a lot of publicity. But McKinnie also received a similardeal to remain with the Vikings. Hutchinson is one of the top two offensive linemen in the NFL. McKinnie, a sumo-sized formerfirst round draft pick, tonight was called for stupid penalties and was routinely beaten by Patriots defenders. Hardly an unusual story for many overrated unathletic sumo linemen.

Buffalo under the last few coaches loved their sumo reaches. Mike Williams who was a 3rd pick?(I know he was in the first 6) Played like a 3rd rounder who performed marginally. Also Jamie Nails and their other reaches might as well have entered Jennie Craig programs with Kirstie Allie...

Any poll of overrated players that doesn't have Mike/Michael Vick as #1 is a joke.

Ditka went off, and deservingly so, about how that poll is a bunch of b.s. if Urlacher was on there. Adding that Brian is the BEST LB in the league hands down. It's about time Ditka steps up and says something.

Ditka only says stuff about his dick. But seriously, it is not that bad. Brian Urlacher has celebrity status and so did Jason Sehorn(he raced Michael Johnson in a commercial). There are so few white players in the league that white youth are desperate to glorify any white that survives the onslaught from American and attain "MTV" celebrity without being blacklisted. It is so rare for an athletic white to do this.

It is kinda true. Brian Urlacher is considered way better than Dan Morgan, Zach Thomas, Keith Brooking, and Teddy Bruschi. He really isn't all that much better than them.

The quarterback on my team at practice today said, jokingly that there were like 5 white linebackers in the NFL.

Maybe it isn't that Urlacher is overrated; it's that all the other white linebackers you mentioned are underrated.

Did you tell your quarterback, jokingingly, that there were like 5 black quarterbacks in the NFL?

Does the lack of white line backers prove anything other than the existence of the caste system?

In all seriousness there are about 5 real black qb's in the league. The rest of them are passing through the league within a few years....

He said that before the white linebacker remark. He also mentioned that there were no black punters.

As the number of white players will decrease, the majority white fans will put increasing hope in the ones that remain.

Here is another poll by SI from yesterday. Terrell Owens was voted. the most overrated player. If you look at the top five though there are three white players(two if you don't count Sanchez.)

<h2 ="title">Players think Terrell Owens is the most overrated in NFL</h2> By Chris Chase</span></span>

ept_sports_nfl_experts-699157771-1287599224.jpgym4hM9DD2jzeZu64

Terrell Owens(notes)</span> is the most overrated player in the NFL, according to his peers.

In a poll of 269 NFL players released on Wednesday by Sports Illustrated, Owens was named most overrated by 14 percent of respondents, far outdistancing Tony Romo(notes)</span> (7 percent), Mark Sanchez(notes)</span> (5 percent), Albert Haynesworth(notes)</span> (5 percent) and Eli Manning(notes)</span> (4 percent).

[Video Rewind: T.O. gets dunked on at Rucker Park]

Though NFL players are usually paragons of sound judgment,
I'm going to have to take issue with this one. T.O. is the "most" in
many categories: loud, over-exposed, attention-seeking, annoying,
reluctant to run a crossing route, likely to star in unwatchable
television shows. But overrated? If anything he's been underrated this year.

[Photos: See more images of Terrell Owens]

Owens didn't sign until the eve of training camp and was only able to muster a one-year deal from the Cincinnati Bengals.
Basically, every team in the NFL passed on him during the offseason.
All he's done so far in 2010 is put himself on pace to post career highs
in receptions and yards, yet you never hear about his play, just his
antics.

And for that, he's overrated? Hmm ... maybe Donovan McNabb(notes)</span> went Chicago-style on this ballot and voted more than once.
