I am going to buy a new computer soon. I don't have a smart phone because I don't want to be tracked and have all my personal information collected that can be, and is, collected via a smart phone. I just bought a new TV and didn't get one of the new smart TVs for the same reason. There is a huge move by the PTB, aka George Orwell's buddies, to have the population use these "smart" devices so that they can pry into every facet of everyone's lives and collect this information. It isn't paranoid, it's a fact and more and more people are realizing this every day.

So my question is, have you heard anything about Windows 10, which is being released by Microsoft shortly, and capabilities it has to collect personal information? Not sure I want to buy a new laptop that Bill Gates is going to use to send all my PI to whoever he wants to.

Microsoft has been working closely with the NSA since Windows 95 came out many years ago. Their operating system is proprietary and closed-source, meaning no one really knows, nor can vet, everything that's in it. It's here where there's probably a lot of privacy concerns (I can imagine direct dumps of your info directly to NSA headquarters.)

Your best bet is to go with some variation of Linux. Many casual users or non-techies in the past would stay away from Linux because it wasn't user-friendly...a lot of "command line" type stuff to configure and run it. However, the version of Linux today is much more user-friendly and there are more online resources to help you with it via YouTube videos and technical blogs. What's also nice about Linux is that it's open-source. Anyone can download the code and review it, checking whether or not there are any "back doors" into the code. There's a whole community that's into this and would report it if there was...keeps Linux "honest" in that regard.

Here's a site that sells laptops outfitted with Linux that you may want to consider instead:

Thanks for the information Heretic. I may end up doing that. A lot of people have this same concern. I'm sure there are many software developers who can build someone a custom-PC while taking these concerns into account.
