i watched the highlights of the greece-russia match: more unfair refereeing for greece with that denied penalty, but karagounis (who scored the only goal and is their best player) will miss the next match because he got a yellow card because the referee thought that it was a dive (he also got a yellow card in the opening match against poland)

unfortunately, they can't
they will review the tapes, but they can't decide not to suspend karagounis
because the suspension is automatic once you get 2 yellow cards in the first 3 matches (it's the same when you have a red card, you are automatically suspended for the next match)

so the only way to reverse the suspension would be to erase his yellow card, but it would be using the video to help the referee, something that UEFA don't want
they can only use the video to decide for how many matches a player will be suspended when he gets a red card (1 match being the minimum), and for things that the referee didn't see

there were a lot of similar cases recently, i remember one involving ronaldo but i'm not sure
kaka in the 2010 world cup was suspended for 1 match even though everyone saw that he didn't do anything

it's INCREDIBLE how the refereeing was unfair to greece, it's almost like they are playing against the referee too
a ridiculous red card in the first match, a disallowed goal and a wrong offside decision in the second match, a denied penalty in the 3rd match and now their best player will be suspended for the next match
it must be so frustrating

i will be rooting for greece too if they face germany

Willems had a pretty bad game, made a crucial mistake before the equalizer,got only a yellow card for a brutal foul, and was substituted for Afellay in minute 67.

But a really great game from the Danish team, Agger,Kvist,Andersen in particular. I really feel bad for them.

Krohn-Dehli scored for Denmark, not Bendtner. KD has 2 goals now. Not bad for a guy playing in Brondby, not a great team by any stretch of immagination, not even a medium one.

krohn deli's goal against holland was especially spectacular
a guy with his skills would do well in the spanish league
they need to stop buying arab players because these scandinavians players used to play in the big european clubs and now they play nowhere
a lot of them play/played in turkey, which speaks volumes about how underrated they are (mellberg also plays in greece)

it's a very good thing that he managed to help portugal to advance to the quarter finals
after the first 2 matches, he had a lot of pressure and he was criticized a lot

The Denmark-Germany and Netherlands-Portugal matches both had unfortunate conclusions. The Danes were an exciting, unpredictable, fearless, nothing-to-lose squad that would have likely advanced if they’d only been placed in any other group. It’s a shame; because I’d love to have seen this team of “nobodies” (aside from Bendtner, perhaps) hoist the trophy. Alexi Lalas, the Arch Wigger who callously predicted the Danes would fail to advance, must feel so vindicated…is the smug little girl capable of any other sentiment?

Germany, the nauseatingly-diverse “soccer powerhouse” (that hasn’t actually won anything since 1996) was far a more palatable team without Black Boateng infesting their already quasi-Deutsche roster. Lars Bender, who started in his place, played well defensively and scored the go-ahead goal. Perhaps with Boateng’s “character issues” prior to the start of Euro Cup 2012, coupled with Bender’s obvious talent, the young white German player will have finally won Lowe’s ignoble “approval”…

so the QF will probably be france-italy
it will be a though choice between a heavily non-white french team and an italian team with only 1 black
but that black is balotelli, and it changes everything
the blacks playing for france are a useless defensive middlefielder or a mediocre fullback
then there are the arabs, the ones i hate the most in the team probably (nasri and benzema)
but they are not black

and france is the only team in the world who has been criticized for whitening the team



also there is this gay scandal in which italy is involved, they suposedly have 4 gay players in their team, which is way too high (in italy there are not 17% gay men like in their national team)

there are alledgedly 2 gays and 2 "bisexuals" (gays who act like they are straight)
so 2 who are probably not married and 2 that can have a girlfriend or wife

i'm pretty sure that the way he looks was one of the reasons why he was picked to be the german national team coach
the guy who chose him (whoever that is) knew what he was doing

it was clear that he was trying to change the german way of play, and ofcourse their culture also by doing so

coming to a tournament and be so obsessed about how the team looks, but fail to win a title? that's not the german mentality

Assuming England/France are the final 2 to qualify for the Quarters, here's what it looks like in terms of teams to root for (in order of preference):

1. Spain, Greece - the only 2 all-white teams left
2. Italy, Czech Republic - almost entirely white teams, each with a token black
3. Germany, France - majority white teams with a multi-cultural flavor. Really hard to root for either team
4. England - the blackest team left, the team proclaimed by Alexi Lalas to do "great things" in this tournament (surprise, surprise). If England wins Euro 2012, it will be a dark day (pun intended) for football.

This leaves Portugal. I have no idea where they fit in. They seem to have a lot tanned guys, so hard to tell if we'd consider them white, or more of a mixed team like Germany/France.

I'd like to see Spain or Italy (minus Bolatelli) win it. Failing that, anyone but England would work.

Not surprisingly Lalas said that Welbeck should start with Rooney over Carroll even though Carroll was more active in winning balls and tackling. We'll see what Hodgson does.
