An "English" cricketer has faced court for taking part in "spot-fixing". Go on - guess his "ethnicity"...

Cricket has had many betting scandals in the past twenty years or so, once you are caught you are banned for life. I recall members of the Pakistani, South African and maybe the Indian team being banned for life. In the case of the Pakistani team, members that tanked matches were under police protection from irate fans/bettors.

Every time Pakistan plays there are doubts about the legitimacy of the result.

Anyone seen this series above and cared either way? The Australian team is overwhelmingly put guys and the hand eye coordination on display is pretty impressive

For most of their history Australia's cricket team has been the best in the world, but as a New Zealander it's always hard to appreciate the Aussies objectively given the rivalry between the two countries!

Aside from the fact we don't beat them very often, Australia's "win at all costs" mentality in cricket has lead them to follow some pretty unsporting tactics in the past - most notably the "underarm" incident during a match in 1981, which denied New Zealand a chance to tie on the last ball (pitch) of the match. It's still a sore point for many sports fans in NZ today!

A buddy of mine who is Indian had a similar feel about the Aussie team. I just liked that series as it really highlights in a readily understandable way the amazing skill on display in cricket.

growing up in the states we rarely follow or know much about cricket but it really is a pretty cool game that demographic trends seem quite opposite to how American sports are going but that might be my lack of exposure to it as well
