I think it is more difficult for a white fighter to win a world title in a lighter division than at middleweight or above, so this victory by ricky is special. I read a book by madison grant where he wrote that the purest of all white people are the scots, so that makes this victory even better.

    It's harder for white fighters
in the lighter weights because most don't have the power for the one punch ko, so they get "jobed" my sellout judges.....

Burns-Martinez was a tremendous fight! I watched it for the first time the other day and Burns put on a clinic. In my opinion, the only rounds he lost were the ones he got hurt in...which was only 3-4 rounds. He might have a short reign due to his chin but for that one night in Scotland, he did his people proud [IMG]

Burns will face Norwegian Andreas Evensen 13-1(5) on December 4. Edited by: Blue Devils

On March 12 in Glasgow, Scotland, Ricky Burns will be defending his title against a boxer from Ghana, Joseph 'Mandingo" Laryea.
Laryea won by SD over Paul Appleby in his last fight.

Thx Parody for the stream. Ricky had a good 5th round with vicious body shots on the negro.

I think Burns is starting to break the African down, another good 6th for Burns.

Interesting looking and listening to Jim Watt and McGuigian. Looks like they suffered no effects of boxing in their former careers.

    Burns wins via UD!

Only the elite (Marquez, Guerrero and Casamayor) have beaten Katsidis.

Now that he has won belts at junior lightweight and lightweight, Ricky Burns must be considered elite.

Burns was killing himself to make 130. He looks stronger at 135.

Even boxrec rankings are becoming ridiculous. For exemple, they now have Paul Williams ranked # 3 as a 160 lbs even though he's been fighting at 154 for his last 2 fights. (gift MD over Erislandy Lara and a shutout against limited Ishida)

They may feel the 154 division is stacked and that it's easier to have another afrolete ranked higher at 160 lbs. I think he even was # 2 like a week ago.
Nonsense, just like the argument heavyweights cannot be in a P4P ranking. It wasn't the case back then but the rules have changed since eastern euros took over.

I feel Burns could be the next Ricky Hatton. He is already a two-division champ and a win today over Paulus could set up a big U.K. fight with Mitchell.
