Private School Players Are Ignored

Here in the South, there are many private schools. Most, but not all, are mainly white. the only time these guys are ever recruited is if they have a good kicker, or if the school is very big 3A(the biggest in the state) a QB if they throw the ball a lot. Every once in a while, an O lineman will get recruited from one of these mega-private schools, and that's it. In the smaller private schools, you will stand a good chance of never seeing a recruiter from any college, 2 or 4 year, even if you go to every home or away game for 5 years.
These kids are totally ignored supposedly because of the low level of competition they play. I have personally seen SEVERAL of these Mississippi Private School Association (which includes some Arkansas and Louisiana teams)1A and 2A white running backs go well over 2,000 yards in a season, and never hear a college coach call their homes. A MPSA referee told me just this year after a Bowl game that this one (white) kid was the best running back he's seen that whole year, and he had ref'd the game where one of the few black RB played at in Jackson.
This white kid was from Sharkey-Issaquena Academy in Rolling Fork, Mississippi; and he ran for around 2,400 yards last year. I have known of a couple of white running backs who went to Junior college and were allowed to run, but they were made to play defense in the 4 year schools they transferred to.
I have inside information on one of Mississippi's public universities, and the most white friendly, and I have seen their recruiting boards. There would be 30 or so public school games that they would keep track of, and maybe 3 private school games, if any at all. I hated to see that, especially in the Delta where almost all of the public schools are 95% black. Nevertheless, that is the truth of the situation.

Col. Reb you are correct. Mississippi Private School Association are totally ignored. I guess these colleges think white boys can't play. Size could be a factor, but a lot of backs go over 2000 yards every year and nothing much is ever said of them. This is not fair and needs to be reversed. Edited by: okra63
