(posted by Jared)
JJ Diluigi, BYU
Mitch Burroughs, Boise State
Phillip Morelli, Colorado State
Robbie Frey, Connecticut
Alan Vanderink, Kent
Scott Concannon, Northwestern
Dan Dierking, Purdue
Joe Martinek, Rutgers

and now a new name that hasn't signed anywhere...

Kyle Johnson from Tualatin, OR. here is a neat article on how he wants to be the next Luke Staley.

The name "Dierking" and Purdue sounded familiar so I looked it up and sure enough Dan is the son of Scott, who was a running back for Purdue (their third all-time leading rusher behind Mike Alstott and Otis Armstrong) and then the New York Jets in the late '70s and early '80s. Here are his career stats:

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/DierSc00.htm

Here's a pretty good squib about Dan by Tom Lemming, considering that Lemming is usually a hack promoter of the Caste System party line:

A third back, who is kind of a surprise to a lot of people, is Dan Dierking (5-10, 190 lbs.) from Warrenville South in Wheaton. This is the town that produced Red Grange, Chuck Long and the late actor John Belushi, who played football at the Wheaton Central High School. Dan runs a 10.7 in the 100 meters. What's more, he's got the bloodlines: His dad Scott Durking played ball for years with the New York Jets and the Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue has already offered Dan and he'll probably wind up there. This kid's got a knack for making big plays. He rushed for over 2,000 yards last year and he averaged nine yards per carry against really good competition. He's the real deal and a lot of people don't know much about him.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><?:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /><O:p></O:p>

Jimmy-keep up the good work-I had not heard that Fry was going to Connecticut or Martinek was at Rutgers.I do remember Scott Dierking at Purdue.I wish all the best for Kyle Johnson there seems to be a lot of good schools going after him.The main thing that impressed me about Kyle was his Bench Press at 183lbs he could bench 340lbs.

I wish these schools in the West and Midwest would come down to Texas and scoop up some of our talented (White) backs. A&M may start doing so if they keep going the way they are going.

I also remember Scott Dierking at Perdue. He was a key figure in a Boiler upset of Michigan back in the 1970s.

Also, Kentucky has the son of 1960s star runner Dickie Lyons (Dickie Lyons jr., I believe).

does anyone know of any news relating to the two dominant white tailbacks mentioned in this article posted a few months ago about racism in recruiting?

the two talented white TB preps are New Jersey Wayne Hills' Ray Van Peenen and Anthony Ferla of St. Joseph in Montvale...

A scout.com search of Ferla reveals he committed to ant attends Temple... he is listed as a 2nd string safety as a true freshman

Van Peenen is a senior now and has an offer to Minnesota, as well as interest from Rutgers, but that's all the attention he receiving from D1 but will be playing RB.

Dan Dierking definitely looks bigger than his 180 lbs.

Dan also looks about the same age as Alstott too. That is one of the oldest looking 18 years old person I've seen.

I can't be the only one who sees this, but he resembles a young Bill Romanowski with a little John elway thrown in there.

there is a white tailback here in Arkansas who is on the verge of breaking the all-time single-season rushing record for the state. as a bonus, he's doing it in the same division that the black record holder played in. (the black record-setter is former University of Arkansas great Madre Hill, who went on to have a cup o' joe in the NFL)

not surprisingly, i can't find anything about the 6'0", 205-pound "fullback" on any recruiting list. his name is Derek Lawson, and he plays for Nettleton High School. with 305 rushing yards and 5 TDs last week, his current total is 2,341 yards and 26 touchdowns on 205 carries. not a bad average at over 11 yards per carry, i'd say.

so i wonder what this kid's chances are to A) be offered a scholarship to Arkansas? B) get a chance to play tailback for the Hogs? and C) have a shot at the NFL?

Who knows, but as crazy as Nutt is, he just might recruit him and then waste him like Peyton Hillis and several other recent Arkansas FBs.

Colonel, it doesn't look likely. most of the football "experts" say he's both too small and too slow.
smiley5.gif
more of the same old crap.

i've stumbled across another hard-nosed kid. Ryan Van Rensburg has committed to Vanderbilt, and depending on where you go, he is either 6'1" or 6'2" and somewhere between 210-225 pounds. the kid must be a shape-shifter! ha! i couldn't find any stats for him this season, but he ran for 985 yards and 20 TDs last year. he's always considered a "hard-nosed runner" and an "Alstott clone" so who knows. also, he's from South Africa, so maybe he won't succumb to the negrophilia so rampant here in the States.

there are some videos out there on him, so any of you who have a subscription to Rivals or ESPN Insider check him out, because i don't. the kid is certainly well put together...

Too small? lol. Apparently the "experts" are hocking crystal-meth again. He has a build and body-type that is almost the same as mine, only his lats are a little wider. Judging by his chest, his bench is probably in the 295-315 range (probably more), which for a high-school senior is ridiculous, especially for a running player, and not a lineman. People just never run out of excuses for us do they?

WOW! I hope Vandy keeps their word with this kid. He looks like he could run through the whole line of an SEC team. I am ready for another 1-2 white RB combo at Vandy! The thing that scares me is that Vandy is screwing Jared Hawkins right now, in my opinion. He gets a few carries a game, but is clearly the best runner on the team. We'll have to see what happens.

I believe it. I just tried to make an estimate going by the size of his chest. But, as we all know, looks can be decieving. If he trains the way a powerlifter does, 400 is an easily achievable weight for a specimen his size and weight.

So what school do they think this kid is going to choose? And will this this school let him play HB?

I'm guessing he's going to choose Grambling University.

smiley36.gif
...just kidding.

In all seriousness, I think Vanderbuilt might be the school to let him do his thing without running him as a fullback. Although they are technically in the SEC, they do have respectable academic standards. Its not like the school is Miami U., which should be renamed "Borderline Retarded University". Plus, historically, the school itself has not really been that hostile towards White players. If he's as good as he appears to be, he should have no problem being the featured back there.

yeah, he has committed to Vandy. but after their terrible treatment of Jared Hawkins this season, we'll have to wait and see before i give them too much credit.

Derek Lawson, who plays in Arkansas at Nettleton High School needs just 164 yards in tonight's quarterfinal play-off game against White Hall to break the All-Time Single-Season Rushing Record for the state of Arkansas of 2,863 yards...
smiley32.gif

he's been held under 100 yards just once this season, 97 yards against Wynne-the #1 team in the state, and is averaging 245 ypg to go with 30 TDs. he rushed for 261 yards and 3 touchdowns last week to lead the Raiders to their first playoff win in 9 years, an upset over heavily favored Magnolia. just as impressive, he's averaging over 11 yards per carry!

smiley32.gif

of course, he's only given a small chance to succeed, and the black QB and TB for White Hall are getting more praise.
smiley5.gif

i've read Lawson only has one D-1 scholarship offer, from Arkansas State, but i can't even confirm that.
smiley18.gif
the University of Arkansas is completely ignoring him, not even inviting him for an on-campus visit.

I would really love to see Wynne get knocked out of the playoffs and a team like Nettleton win it all. I have been reading about Pulaski Academy and their spread offense, and how a lot of high school teams are using it now. Southlake Carroll, the high school team McKay Jacobson played with, makes a living with it. Jimmy, what does the Morrilton High team look like as far as color goes? Just curious.

Derek Lawson had 234 yards and 5 TDs in a huge win over White Hall last night and is now the leading rusher in Arkansas High School football history! Way to go Derek!

here's an excerpt from a paper that covers the other team, the all-black White Hall who "shockingly" got smoked...
Nettleton running back Derek Lawson, who entered the game needing 151 yards to break former Malvern and Arkansas Razorback great Madre Hill's single-season rushing record of 2,863 yards.

The senior shattered it by the first half, rushing for 167 yards and three scores in the first 24 minutes.

Lawson finished the game with 245 yards and five touchdowns on 34 carries, lifting the new single-season record 2,958 yards. He's scored 35 touchdowns this season as well.

Lawson broke the record on a 45-yard score towards the end of the first half that put Nettleton up 27-10.

"Lawson is a great running back. He really is," Vaughn said. "He's tough to bring down..."

That's when Lawson broke White Hall's back for the final time.

The senior accounted for all 80 yards on Nettleton's next drive and gave his team a 27-10 lead on a 45-yard score, the record-breaker, to send the Raiders into the break with a commanding 17-point advantage.

After giving up just 19 points in its last two games â€â€￾ a 3-0 win at Little Rock Mills and a 37-16 victory over Harrison â€â€￾ White Hall's defense was torched to the tune of 258 yards and four touchdowns in the first half...

Nettleton officially put the game out of reach when it received to start the second half and put together a 12-play, 65-yard drive that was capped by a 23-yard Lawson run and took up nearly six minutes of clock.

wow! 34 carries, 245 yards, 5 TDs... all by a kid who's not any good.
smiley5.gif
smiley32.gif
not surprisingly, the Razorbacks still aren't looking at him.

Lawson has now set the new single-season record at 2,958 yards. He's scored 35 touchdowns this season, as well.
smiley32.gif
but he can still increase the record. next up... a game versus all-white Greenwood in the semi-finals. by the way, White Hall was 10-1 on the season, i mean 10-2.
