I am using the P90X training program.

I wanted to use it because they spoon feed you everything you need to know and do-- the actualy exercises along with the actual diet.

I have been training since I was 12 and am now 33, but I am at the point where I just don't want to devote any time to figuring out a training program. This fits the bill quite nicely.

So far I am in the 3rd week and it is going quite well. If anyone is interested in buying it, I can answer any detailed questions you have!

Hey Don, it is an overly hyped and overly slick program that has 12 DVDs and a exercise book along with a nutrition book.

The basic idea is that you go on 3 different stages of exercise and diets for 4 weeks each-- the total is 90 days.

The DVD's have the exercises on for each day-- for instance there is a shoulders/arms DVD, a chest/back DVD, a plyometric DVD (jump training), yoga, stretching, legs and back, kenpo, core synergistics, chest shoulders & triceps, back & biceps, cardio, abs.

Now you dont do all 12 Dvds in each 4 week time frame. They are mixed and matched.

I view the whole program as basically a TON of pullups and other bodyweight exercises coupled with several dumbell (or exercise bands)exercises, a good deal of cardio with balance/agility drills and stretching. It also has a fantastic diet/nutrition plan that I really swear by. It is not silly and it is quite easy to follow. I think the price of $120 is fair, and everything really is spoon fed to you-- I need this as I just don't want to think about exercising anymore-- I'm not a 15 year old kid anymore with no worries in life!!
The marketing is quite over the top in my mind though. Oh well.

P90X works ... unfortunately i got lazy and busy, actually if i'm behing honest it's my fault for not prioritizing my fitness time, and have lost the gains i made.

iWILL get back on track, though. i saw results quickly, the workouts aren't boring, and you don't need to buy a bunch of equipment. another cool aspect of the program is that you don't get over-use injuries (at least i didn't) because you change up your workout so often. it also helps prevent plateauing.

i'll keep you guys posted if/when i get back in the groove.

Ibanez, I thoroughly believe it works due to the muscle-confusion technique (preventing plateaus). I may try it as well, but first I want to get under 300 (holding 325 right now...at 6'8 (not sumo

)). I notice most of the "start/beginner" user's photos show they are already fairly lean, and P90X helps them get ripped. I'm holding a little too much BF right now (19-21%)

& want to get back down to at least 17% before I start.

Don, fyi here's some further insight on P90X...

Dixie, get yourself NO Explode NT. It's a new version of NO Explode. I started taking the stuff and it gives me tremendous energy before workouts.

I heard this program also has a plyometrics workout series to increase vertical jump. If anyone's tried it, does it work well?

I know people who have committed to this. The results are outstanding. The key is hard committment.

"P90X Training". The health and fitness field has always been awash with hustlers hustling their "courses" and "products". You don't need any of these things with their stupid fancy names and "money back guarantees". the internet has almost infinite resources where you can learn all about physical fitness, get new ideas, exchange ideas. There are so many good websites and forums. Here is a particularly awesome one where you can read all the books and literature of the old time physical culture experts for free - and they were better and wiser than what you see now...

Right! Nothing will work if you don't use it.....

any kind of semi structured exercise plan and diet will go a long way as long as you stick with it, yeah. this is not bad, but goddamn, do they charge you ****LOAD for something that you could get from anyone who knows about fitness and nutrition or even from bodybuilding.com...
